The Artist Behind Bored Ape Yacht Club: Seneca Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), one of the most iconic NFT collections ever launched, owes its distinctive visual identity largely to a freelance artist known as All Seeing Seneca (or simply Seneca), an Asian-American illustrator. Launched in April 2021 by Yuga Labs, the 10,000-piece generative collection features cartoonish apes with varied traits like clothing, expressions, and accessories. Seneca served as the lead designer for the original artwork. Seneca hand-drew the foundational ape design, with the body rendered “exactly line-for-line” from her illustration. She also developed signature traits, including the grinning mouth, popping eyes, and the iconic beanie. While the final NFTs were generated programmatically by combining over 170 traits, her core drawings provided the artistic foundation that gave the apes their playful, streetwear-infused, irreverent charm. The project’s four pseudonymous founders—primarily writers Greg Solano (“Gargamel”) and Wylie Aronow (“Gordon Goner”), along with two engineers hired Seneca as a freelancer to bring their concept of “rich apes in a swamp clubhouse” to life. Though the collection exploded in popularity (with floor prices reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars at peak), Seneca has spoken publicly about feeling under-acknowledged. She noted her compensation was not ideal relative to the project’s success. Seneca’s contribution highlights a common tension in the early NFT boom: the gap between the often-anonymous or pseudonymous teams behind massive projects and the individual creatives who supply the actual art. Her work on BAYC helped define a cultural phenomenon that blended digital collectibles, community building, celebrity adoption, and metaverse ambitions. Even years later, the Bored Apes remain instantly recognizable, a testament to the enduring appeal of her original designs.

Too many copycat NFTs are trying to launch With full of ai art or just changing basic things of existing collections easily in few hours. They are just sniffing the current trends, narratives to scam you. Be careful, watch your money & time!

NFTs are the most interesting thing going on in crypto rn we see… > NFT floor prices up > new NFT mints doing well > bored apes grails being hunted > gift of time going from 0.02E mint to 1E > experimentation on NFT 2.0 with $UPEG meanwhile, CT talks about creators using bots, L4L groups, & other engagement farming schemes for numbers CT is so down bad 😭 but thankfully, NFTs are back 😤

So guys, the list for “NFTs 2026” is almost done There are still 9 spots left, and I'm slowly running out of ideas... My phone and computer are slowly filling up with NFTs lol

At this point can everyone just admit that people love NFTs and they'll never die?

the art looks a lot better > $3000 than it did at $300

NFTs 2.0 is here

Feels like it’s been YEARS since we’ve had a truly hyped NFT mint… Where’s the next one hiding? Who’s building something that actually gets people excited again 👀

I've been in crypto for a long time, I've run this account for several years, and for the first time, I feel very uninspired by the current projects in this space. I'm finding it difficult to find projects to make content about, as well as projects that excite me to use and invest in. This is my third bear market, so I'd love to blame it on that, but I can't. If you're passionate about a project, drop it in the comments. Crypto has always been my number one passion, and I'd love to find some projects that can reignite that spark.

GIFT OF TIME 365 pieces minted at 0.02 eth after platform/marketplace fees, the artist maybe nets ~$10k. A few months of rent. A few months of bills. A few more months to keep creating. floor: ~1 ETH collection value: ~$840k even if the floor cuts in half, there’s still a ~$400k gap between what the artist was paid and what the market says the work is worth. that gap is the entire crypto art conversation. artists create cultural value upfront. collectors capture financial value as it compounds i think the artist deserves more. not entitled to more.. i just think creator sharing should exist when you create that much value.

What NFT’s are we buying?

Everyone wants NFTs to be back, but very few are actually buying to hold long-term. Most are still waiting for the next flip. Hype is easy. Diamond hands are rare.

Love to see art coming back- but I absolutely HATE to see people simply talking about prices, daily flips, trajectory of price as though that’s the conversation to be had about a collection. I know it comes with the whole “Art’s back” territory, but fuck, gang, it sucks at the same time and looks absolutely gross from an outside pov. Folks wanting to adopt our space are gonna want to understand the culture and substance of the art and when they jump in to the surrounding conversation it’s all about “My God, Dumped at X but rebounded to X, you need to know art better…” it’s such a turn off. Do better.

When you zoom out... You can't ignore what's happening with digital-native IPs. Overpriced JPEGs or not. NFTs are becoming more composable and their brands becoming more global. Still early.
