You can't hunt alligators with firearms? What crap. We used to be a proper country. Legal methods to hunt alligators in Florida include using artificial lures, baited wooden pegs, snare poles, harpoons, gigs, and spears, all of which must be attached to a restraining line. Bows, crossbows, and pre-charged pneumatic airbows (with tethered arrows) are also permitted. The only legal firearm is a bang stick, used only on a restrained alligator.

The FWC is aware of a video depicting individuals in the Everglades on an airboat who appear to be discharging firearms at an alligator. FWC officers are looking into the incident and will provide additional information when available. To report wildlife violations, call the Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922.
