This is the most disingenuous, deliberately misleading shit you're going to read in defence of any Nepo baby Industry Plant media ever. First off- this is not a slight on Johnny Galvatron. Guy's created a vision that speaks to people and produces a lot of positive experiences for gamers. Bravo and more power to him- but that doesn't in any way detract from the gaslighting and astroturfing idiots like Jeremy are trying to engage in. The Artful Escape was NOT by any stretch "years of Indie hustle" and a "proven track record and creative success" that had been produced with minimal support as a little Indie studio. It was backed by Epic Games and failed a Crowdfunding run before being FULLY FUNDED by Annapurna. And with that funding they hired a star studded cast of VAs like Carl Weathers and Lena Headey, and could expand to console as well as PC. No prizes for guessing what the gameplay consisted of... So quit it with this "pure, unadulterated grift" bullshit while you are literally lying to people about the origins of a game that can't even animate its namesake correctly. The definition of Grift (Merriam-Webster) is: "a petty or small-scale swindle, scam, or confidence game. It refers to the act of acquiring money or property through deceit, fraud, or exploitation of trust". You tell me who that sounds like...
Jeremy@ManaByte

The "Mixtape is an Ellison nepo baby project" discourse is peak modern internet: pure, unadulterated grift fueled by people who would rather manufacture outrage than open a single Wikipedia tab. Let's actually look at the reality of how this game got made. Mixtape wasn't cooked up in a Hollywood boardroom. It’s the brainchild of Johnny Galvatron. Johnny is an Australian musician who used to front the punk rock band The Galvatrons. In 2017, he stepped away from the band to found his own studio, Beethoven & Dinosaur. His first game? The Artful Escape. It was a masterpiece that won massive critical acclaim, secured BAFTA nominations, and proved Johnny’s unique voice in the industry. That proven track record and creative success is exactly what landed them the funding for Mixtape. But sure, let’s ignore years of indie hustle, actual musical pedigree, and an award-winning debut just to chase engagement with a lazy narrative. Do better.

So, an acquaintance of mine had decided to start on something pretty ambitious. Danbooru but military-related pics: Milbooru I think it has the potential to become something very useful. The booru tagging system is really hard to beat. Feel free to check it out, linked below

The video game industry is lobbying against Stop Killing Games California is considering a new law called AB 1921, also known as the Protect Our Games Act. If passed, the bill would apply to paid digital games sold after January 1, 2027. It requires that if a company shuts down the online services needed to play the game normally, it must give players 60 days' notice and either release a patch so the game can still be played or offer buyers a full refund. The bill does not require companies to keep servers running forever. It simply prevents them from making a game unplayable without warning or a solution for those who already paid for it. The Entertainment Software Association, the main group representing video game companies in the United States, is lobbying against the bill. Their arguments are basically the usual ones: >games are licensed, not owned >online services are complicated >third-party licenses expire >security risks exist >this could be hard or expensive to enforce Supporters of the bill, including the Stop Killing Games campaign, say this is basic customer protection because when you buy a game, it should not suddenly stop working with no remedy. The bill gives companies clear options and applies only to future games. A hearing is scheduled for this Thursday in the California Assembly Appropriations Committee. If you are part of an organization in the United States, especially in California, you can submit a letter of support to the committee. This is an important step for better rights for players who buy digital games.
