Great thread by Nick. Appreciate the detail and rationale in what he’s outlined.
Definitely some good food for thought here as the Bears approach the offseason.
I need to digest this further, and as Nick says Byard may be priced out of the market for the Bears, but I do see a scenario where the Bears try to find a way to strike a deal with him.
Even if they need to pull some levers in how they structure the contract and ramp up cash spending to make it all work. Poles was clear that they hope to have him back.
He was the leader of the defense in 2025 and that continuity both at the safety position and in the locker room has tremendous value.
Hopefully they can find common ground on a deal that has him returning to the Bears. I believe that’s his preference as well, and he might be willing to give a little in order to make it work and see this through.

Too many people worried about whether or not DJ beats Curl across the field for a catch at full pace.
Effort on this play would have made this a walk-off skinny. If Curl respects the Skinny then DJ is getting the rock.
It's an indefensible effort.

How about DJ finishes his route and crosses Curls face with some pace and we are celebrating a Cairo Santos chippy and a trip to the NFC title game? I refuse to blame the D tonight. They played their asses off. They deserved all the smoke over the last month. Not tonight.
