Domenico Scarlatti , Sonata in D minor K . 141 : This beautiful piece is a conversation between Piano and soul , Piano Music is not a sound , it’s a feeling . This piece is known for its dramatic and intense character, it’s in corporate elements of Spanish dance forms which add a distinctive and melodic character to his music . The sonata opens with an Allegro , The second section Adante offers more contemplative and somber mood . I have always loved perfomance of Martha Angerich , it’s almost as if there is a competition for speed , notably in Allegro . The contrast between Allegro and Adante highlights her ability to convey a wide range of emotions .

Beethoven Missa Solemnis in D major , op 123 : From the heart - may it return to the heart 💜 Beethoven He regarded it as his greatest work . If any work from his last years reveals Beethoven’s complicated view of existence , it is Missa Solemnis , more than Ninth Symphony . It is a monumental work , one of his daunting works in five movements , it’s a real compendium of every musical texture : calm , pure and almost operatic , it may well be Beethoven’s masterpiece . His other work with choir and orchestra , The Ninth Symphony , but somehow it has never reached such heights of popularity . It’s a communal call in prayer to profound uncertainty about future - the exact opposite of The Ninth . It is a most unfamiliar masterpiece .

Reviewing his glorious recital in Dortmund the local paper WAZ called @PlacidoDomingo a phenomenon. Those present at the Konzerthaus can certainly vouch for that. Imposing and gentle at the same time, the 85-year-old Spaniard roared, commanded, pleaded and flirted, his vocal prowess sustained throughout the long performance with six encores. From Verdi's "Macbeth" and "Il Trovatore" with the stunning soprano Guanqun Yu to zarzuela and sentimental Neapolitan and Broadway songs, the public clapped their hands raw and gave Domingo as much love back as he himself promised them in his Lehár operetta song "You are my heart's delight". I challenge you to find another opera star who can still fill concert halls to the brim and sing his heart out quite like our "King of Opera". Below is a taste of last night. Viva Domingo!

Memories from a resplendent recital when @PlacidoDomingo and Chinese soprano Guanqun Yu brought the house down in the German city of Dortmund. The two singers during a showstopping rendition of Bernstein's "Tonight" in which Domingo sang his heart out with a velvet sound reminiscent of his tenor days. A moment with pianist James Vaughan who accompanied the singers as he has done on several recent occasions. After the performance the Spanish star met a long line of fans and signed autographs seated in his car. Thank you for a spectacular evening of opera, zarzuela and Broadway at the Konzerthaus, bravissimi tutti!

The tenderness of Raoul's pledge to protect Christine in "Phantom of the Opera", one of the most popular musicals of today's birthday boy Andrew Lloyd Webber. The soaring melody of "All I ask of you" with Paloma San Basilio and @PlacidoDomingo , an interpretation whose sincerity throws the public behind Raoul's resolve to do all he can to save his beloved from the evil Phantom. (Miami, 1991). Many happy returns to the prolific British composer credited with reinventing the modern musical. Have a lovely 78th birthday! youtu.be/X86SmDliYbQ?is…

Beethoven , Piano Concerto No 3 , Second Movement , Largo : A tidal wave of emotion , which oscillate between sweetness and nostalgia , good old fashioned romance . This Piano Concerto has special place in heart of Piano geeks ! Beethoven seems to be almost playing with our emotions . The Largo , this lovely , contemplative movement has a romantic flavour , in the very distant key of E major , Beethoven seems determined to highlight the strangeness of this erotic harmonic landscape . This is the youthful Beethoven at his most spiritual and profound , not far at all from the mood of the slow movement of The Ninth Symphony

𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐲 : 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐳 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 Shubert manages to convey longing , lonliness and nostalgia . This is one of my favourite pieces for solo Piano and i think its grandeur and drama on a scale surpasses Beethoven . Although Beethoven’s solo piano compositions no doubt outmach Schubert’s in general Schubert had moments of sublime brilliance in this piece . Bearing in mind Schubert was not a virtuoso Pianist , this is a fantastic work . It is widely considered most technically demanding composition for the Piano . Schubert himself said : 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐭 . It has four movements : Allegro con fuoco , Adagio and presto . The third movement is the most difficult of all . The 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐫 motifs are absolutely delicious !!!

Tonights thought. 'The Face Of Silence. There comes a time in every soul's journey when Silence speaks louder than defense and peace becomes your loudest answer. Silence is not emptiness, it is not weakness, it is not the absence of words, but the presence of wisdom'. GN♥️

Mahler’s Das Lied Von der Erde : Tears are the silent language of grief …Voltaire A song Symphony , a heart breaking symphony without assigning it a number , no composer pulls our emotional strings with such ease , no composer said farewell more eloquently , poignantly and frequently than Mahler . The theme of death runs through Mahler’s music . This song symphony perhaps with the Adagio from Mahler’s Ninth is the most beautiful and painful composition I have listened to . It is a Symphony in the Mahlerian sense without assigning it a number , it was not his intent to number it as a Symphony for superstitious belief . Mahler was emotionally drained and felt that a farewell described more clearly his grief with lyrical meaning of a Chinese poem in which beauty and death were central to poetry . I believe if there is a composer who brings out aversion or instant praise , it is Mahler .

Love is composed of a single soul inhibiting in two bodies …Aristotle Can you select a piece of music to express the notion of being in love ? It’s a challenging endeavour because being in love denotes a strong attachment to another individual . It’s yearning for togetherness . However some music encapsulates that feeling . Love is only insightful and clairvoyant as the persons involved or a desire to be romantically connected . With that concept in mind I promptly allude to one work of music that gives me the feeling : Prelude from Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde , the whole prelude feels like swinging emotion of first Love ❤️ The theme of the aria is romantic enough . If the lyrics alone don’t stir you , the music will . Jessye Norman proves it in one of the last performances of Hebert Von Karajan .

Edvard Creig , Piano Concerto , Op . 16 In memory everything seems to happen in Music ….Tennessi Williams ..,…..🎵🎹 There is something so timeless and comforting about the music and this exquisite Concerto with its sweeping melody lines carry you away . I love all three movements equally , and yet there’s something particularly lovely about The Second movement , the beloved Adagio with its gorgeous melody , tears sting my eyes. Another favourite moments is a passage late in the third movement . It’s like a second Adagio movement within a moment where the Pianist and composition both seem to reach perfection . Even Rachmaninov considered it the greatest Concerto ever written .

Beethoven No 17 Piano Sonata in D minor : Shakespeare’s Tempest Piano Sonata. This Piano Sonata is a magic journey in a storm of emotions , fiercely ascending in the dexterity of the fingers to an emotional outburst . The Tempest is unquestionably one of the greatest classical Sonatas . The end of the third movement - The allegretto leaves the listener with sweet haunting sounds, yet thirsty for more repetition in this dance. Beethoven chose the key D Minor which meant special for him, for example in his 9th Symphony ( the saddest key ) Why is it called The Tempest ? When Beethoven was asked about it , he replied : Read Shakespeare’s Tempest . It’s one of Shakespeare’s most universal and emotional plays .
