I want to take an IQ test but I am hesitating for these two reasons: 1) If I'm stupid, I'd rather not have confirmation. 2) If I'm smart, I'm not sure if I can resist the urge to tell people. I'll either have my confidence shattered or become more socially insufferable.

Good take. I'm not in favor of it personally. But if the Lord commanded me through his authorized servants to practice it then I certainly would try to move forward in faith. But I served my mission in South Africa and there are certain cultures there that practice polygamy. Considering that they already practice it and it is legal, I wish we had options to bring those families into the church without breaking them up.

@ingram3000 @ThoughtfulSaint Fair point on Jacob 2:30. As for my view of your beliefs, unsure. Polygamy, like the Priesthood, is one of those things in Church history that I don't quite understand but I KNOW it's part of our history and can't be denied. Even about Joseph.

The church should excommunicate anyone who teaches at the polygamy conference that Joseph did not practice polygamy along with anyone who publicly teaches it online. Plural marriage is still a doctrine in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints even if it is an exception and not the rule in matters of marital practice. I make no apologies.

It would seem we agree on the selective application of policy. But do you think I'm among those "clinging to polygamy"? Or why are you bringing that into the discussion? I think it would make sense for the church to allow and recognize polygamy in countries where it is legal. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is more strict on polygamy prohibitions than other sects. Regardless of civil disposition, the ultimate variable would be whether the Lord commands it for raising up a population. (Jacob 2:30)

@ingram3000 @ThoughtfulSaint The ANLs covenanted to not war lest their former sinful ways return. To your point, the Lord commands and revokes as seems Him good. People clinging to polygamy should just go to Manti or some other place where it's fashionable, if not approved...
