🐻 How I survive bear markets (no theory)
This one feels just as brutal:
- BTC < $80k
- alts -60/-80% everywhere
- fear index ~14
- timelines dead quiet
Every cycle I realize the same thing:
👉 bear markets don’t kill you
👉 bad decisions do
So here’s what I actually do
1⃣ Protect capital first (non-negotiable)
Before thinking about gains, think survival.
If I wouldn’t buy it today → I sell it. No “hope holding”.
I keep:
- 30–50% in stables
- stop-loss ~5–10%
- never all-in
You can’t win the next bull if you blow up now.
2⃣ DCA instead of guessing bottoms
I stopped trying to time reversals. It’s a trap.
Now I just:
- buy weekly
- 5–10% each time
- BTC / ETH / a few strong plays only
Boring? Yes.
But this literally turned my losses into gains by years.
Consistency > intelligence.
3⃣ Earn while waiting (huge underrated edge)
Most people just “wait”. I don’t.
Stables go to work:
- 6–10% safe yields
- blue-chip LPs
- staking
Last bear, yield covered my living costs.
So I accumulated without touching principal.
Free time + free cash flow = unfair advantage.
4⃣ Fundamentals > hype
Bears expose fake projects fast.
What I look for:
- real users
- sticky TVL
- revenue
- integrations
If it only looks good on Twitter → it dies in a bear.
Simple filter, saves tons of money.
5⃣ Mindset & conviction (most underrated)
This one’s personal.
For example, I’ve followed @Aptos for years.
Got clowned. Price dumped hard. “Dead chain” tweets every month.
Still stayed in my portfolio.
Not hopium, just conviction.
Having 1–2 bets you truly understand keeps you calm while others panic.
And calm people don’t make dumb trades.
That’s literally it.
No magic indicator. No secret alpha.
Just:
- protect cash
- DCA
- earn yield
- focus fundamentals
- stay patient
Bear markets are where wealth is built quietly.
