INNOSPACE has identified the cause of the mission termination of its first commercial HANBIT-Nano launch through a joint investigation with Brazil’s aerospace accident investigation authority, CENIPA. The cause was determined through analysis of flight data, video records, and more than 300 recovered debris pieces. Approximately 33 seconds after liftoff, gas leakage occurred at the forward section of the first-stage hybrid rocket combustion chamber assembly, leading to a rupture of the combustion chamber. The investigation found that the leakage was caused by insufficient compression of sealing components during the on-site reassembly of the forward chamber plug as part of launch preparation activities in Brazil. INNOSPACE is strengthening its assembly processes and quality management procedures while implementing component improvements and additional verification. Following launch authorization from the Korea Aerospace Administration(KASA), the company plans to conduct a follow-up launch in Brazil in the third quarter of 2026. At yesterday’s Korea–Brazil summit, future industry cooperation between the two countries was addressed as a key agenda item. Alongside agriculture and defense, aerospace was highlighted as a core area of bilateral collaboration. 🌌 In the official summit footage released by the Korean government, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated, “We wish to expand our agreement with the Korea Aerospace Administration. We want to maintain our partnership with the Korean company INNOSPACE for the launch of small launch vehicles from the Alcântara Launch Center in Brazil.” His remarks reaffirmed the commitment to continued space cooperation between the two nations. His statement reflects that Korea’s first commercial launch attempt at Alcântara represents cooperation that has moved beyond dialogue and into tangible execution. Commercial launch activities inevitably involve technical challenges and rigorous validation. Through this process, experience is accumulated and trust is built — enabling the next phase of cooperation. The Alcântara Launch Center is internationally recognized for its geographic advantage and strategic value as a launch site. Advancing LOX/LCH4 Dual-Propellant Cooling for HANBIT-Micro INNOSPACE has successfully completed a series of combustion tests for its upgraded 4 kN-class liquid-methane kick-stage combustor for HANBIT-Micro. 🚀 Building on the 237-second long-duration ground test in May 2024, the combustor has been advanced with a Dual-Propellant Regenerative Cooling scheme. 📈 ⚙️ Unlike conventional single-propellant regenerative cooling, this approach utilizes both fuel and oxidizer as coolants, enabling: 🔹 Reduced feed pressure requirements 🔹 Lighter propellant tanks 🔹 Lower overall kick-stage mass 🔥 By preheating and vaporizing both coolants, the system also achieves: 🔹 Improved mixing efficiency 🔹 Shorter ignition delay 🔹 Enhanced combustion stability and efficiency 💡 Overcoming High Technical Barriers Most notably, the recent test validated stable regenerative cooling under low-pressure, subcritical conditions — a technically demanding regime — and mitigated the risks associated with using liquid oxygen (LOX) as a coolant. The application of a gas–gas swirl injector further demonstrated improved mixing performance. With this milestone, INNOSPACE continues to advance methane propulsion technology and enhance the maturity of the HANBIT-Micro kick-stage system. February 4, 2026, INNOSPACE visited the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (@MBRSpaceCentre) in Dubai, UAE, to discuss potential cooperation in the space industry. The meeting was attended by MBRSC Director Dr. Mansoori, representatives from the Korea Aerospace Administration (@with_KASA), and INNOSPACE, together with other Korean companies. During the discussion, INNOSPACE shared views on concrete areas of cooperation, including the potential launch of satellites developed by MBRSC using INNOSPACE's launch vehicle, as well as the possibility of providing customer-oriented launch services following the establishment of a launch site in the UAE. On February 5, 2026, INNOSPACE continued discussions with representatives of the UAE Space Agency(@uaespaceagency) regarding the direction of bilateral cooperation in the space industry. The meeting was attended by officials from the UAE Space Agency, including H.E. Ibrahim Al Qassim, Deputy Director General, and Omar Alshehhi, Head of the Quality Standards Section. INNOSPACE is conducting a joint technical investigation with CENIPA, the aerospace investigation authority under the Brazilian Air Force(@fab_oficial), regarding the first commercial launch of HANBIT-Nano (SPACEWARD mission). The investigation is based on flight telemetry and tracking data, ground system data, and operational records secured immediately after launch. The findings will be reflected in technical improvements and the follow-on launch schedule. Following completion of the investigation, INNOSPACE plans to proceed with its next launch after obtaining authorization from the Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA).
