Not to blow my horn here, but I did suggest this to our civ-mil overlords. I actually proposed that Saudi, Türkiye, Egypt and Pakistan should takeover the entire Middle Eastern maritime channel - Hormuz, Bab Al-Mandab, and Suez. This is one reason why I have been saying that Pakistan’s navy must become a blue water navy and start establishing presence in Yemen, Horn of Africa and Tartus (Syria). The Turks will love to have us there with them. And our Navy now needs a dedicated air force of their own. Saudi and Qatar can help with the finances for establishing this indigenous maritime patrolling force.
