"#OSINT is like a gun, when you wave it around, people think you will use it."

🚨37 years ago (15 Nov 1988), Barend Strydom 🚨"Die Wit Wolf" walked onto Strijdom Square (now Lillian Ngoyi Square) in Pretoria, gunned down 8 black people, wounding 16 more. He was sentenced to death but got full amnesty in 1994 via the Truth and Reconciliation Commission political deal. Meanwhile, on 20 May 1983, the ANC's MK planted a car bomb in Church Street, Pretoria, killing 19 people (including 17 civilians) and injuring over 200 during rush hour. Nelson Mandela was ANC leader at the time and the attack was orchestrated by a special operations unit of the ANC's Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK), commanded by Aboobaker Ismail. At the time of the attack, they reported to Joe Slovo as chief of staff and the Church Street attack was authorised by Oliver Tambo. Both sides' killers walked free for "reconciliation." Fast-forward to today, streets renamed after Mandela and other ANC figures. Statues built for "freedom fighters." Buildings and Airports named after those once called terrorists. Victims of Church Street bombings, largely forgotten. No walls of remembrance, no holidays. So here's the question burning in many minds. If we honor one side's "struggle" killers with streets, statues and names, when do we get a street named after Barend Strydom? Or is "justice" and "renaming" only for terrorists? We remember the victims on BOTH sides but selective memory and one-sided hero-worship.That's not healing, it's hypocrisy ‼️
