@Yazulu_ but i think that sort of comparison is natural in a hyper-masculine contact sport, also his insecurities were built on the need to fit in, so i feel like jane would hv less of those surrounding her gender and sexuality as lesbians and mascs are not uncommon or unwelcome in hockey

@invadingarea51 Thats true. I dont think Shane tries to be masculine, but he has a big insecurity with that. In the book, at the same time he is atracted to Ilya's masculinity he constatly compares himself with him. (I like to think this is more about him than Rachel's eventual poor writing.)
