@inversecrown yes, it seems that instead of the writing team planning plots and characters ahead of time, kuro is just throwing them whatever character they want to be playable next and they have to make do with that so it all feels very disconnected and isolated from other chapters

was trying not to think too hard about it but i really don't like the fact that they named rosetta and kamui as tied to phylotree and then nothing. it tells me they don't have a fixed plan for phylotree, not even the potential actors are fixed, and are just winging it as they go

@inversecrown there’s also the formulaic way of writing character dynamics - focus character and skk, focus character and NPCs from their backstory, and that’s all. the former especially i think needs to be changed up a bit according to the needs of the character, because it is so limiting

or phylotree will make up the entirety of pgr2 and they're using this first batch of stories as a crutch to buy for time and gain their footing as they go. it's unfortunate either way

this is why even if the individual chapters may move me in the moment of reading and in isolation, i cannot consider any of them truly good writing
