@camsoft2000 The ability to have all device features (Taptic Engine, camera) on the same device that you’re building on seems neat to me

I don’t understand the appeal of Xcode on the iPad? Can someone enlighten me?

@iotize @Teibit @jon_prosser Yeah that’s true. I guess as soon as you add keyboard and monitor you’ve basically built yourself an Arm MacBook which I believe will be a thing.

I’m not gonna say that Final Cut is coming to iPad... But XCode is present on iOS / iPad OS 14. 👀 The implications there are HUGE. Opens the door for “Pro” applications to come to iPad. I mentioned this last week on a live stream, but figured it was worth the tweet 🤷🏼‍♂️

@camsoft2000 @Teibit @jon_prosser I’d guess it’s to make app development more accessible. Start with learning in Playgrounds, work up to building apps in Swift and SwiftUI. Typing serious code is easy with a keyboard and external monitor support and x86 doesn’t need to be supported if you’re targeting iOS.

@Teibit @jon_prosser That doesn’t really address my point, what does the iPad add to development that the Mac can’t? Just can’t imagine typing in serious code on an iPad also you won’t be able to code x86 or MacOS apps so iPad development will be limited I feel.

@abizern Hey, can you DM me your email / phone number? We’re hiring contract roles at the moment and I’d be interested in getting you on the list.

I suddenly find myself available for iOS contracts. I’ve spent the past 4 months working on a SwiftUI / Combine project and feel a bit discombobulated.

Pick your poison - choosing an architecture is about what’s right for a team in a specific context. Technical compatibility is a less important factor, but still relevant. Great, succinct article! ruiper.es/2019/10/12/pic…

One of the cool things about ARKit is that you can use old cassettes and CDs as shortcuts to play different albums. Finally found a use for my old cassette collection😄 #ARKit

@cocoadelica I’m sure I heard somebody say they’re meant to have iCloud sync. But I haven’t tried it myself. 🕹

@iotize I don’t remember anything about it, but I’d hoped it would be part of it. Do you think it would be via iCloud or gamecenter?

I’m enjoying Apple Arcade. Only thing I’d like to see is syncing of gameplay progress across devices.

Good read on the state of Catalyst from @jamesthomson: tla.systems/blog/2019/10/0… From my experience playing with it, getting it to actually look and feel like a macOS app is really hard. That is, unless we redefine our expectations of what a macOS app should be.

I felt pretty overwhelmed a few weeks ago. After taking some time off, I've come back feeling more energised and balanced. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, I just spent some time at home and at @CenterParcsUK. Taking breaks is important!
Alex 🌚@alexmuench

Signs you need a break: * loosing interesting in things you’re usually passionate about and bring you joy * short temper and easy to provoke * taking everything personally * constant overthinking * emotionally overwhelmed * always exhausted/tired Take care friends. Take a break.

@anwill @iotize As Andrew points out there’s CloudKitJS and for debugging purposes there’s a fairly good dashboard where you, as a developer, can view your own data.

I thought I’d have to spend my entire Sunday trying to figure out how to upload and download files using CloudKit but it was very simple. I already had the foundation for working with CloudKit, so it was only a couple lines of code. I’m very pleased with the CloudKit API so far.
