I think a lot of people dislike Vivek Ramaswamy simply because he's a high achiever who challenges the status quo.
His proposal has merits.
Here's the reality:
Year-round schooling can significantly close learning gaps, especially for lower-income families.
The summer slide leads to an average of 1-2 months of lost learning in reading and math for all students, but it's often 2-3 times worse for kids from lower-income households due to limited access to books, camps, or enrichment programs.
Over 3,000 schools across the U.S. already operate on year-round calendars, and evidence shows students in these programs often achieve higher test scores on average, with particular benefits in math and reading.
Pair that with extended hours (like 7 AM to 4 PM), and it provides massive relief for parents struggling with daycare costs. The average American family shells out more than $13,000 annually on childcare.
As for time off? Families wouldn't lose out. They would get more frequent, shorter breaks scattered throughout the year, allowing vacations during off-peak seasons to save even more money.
Overall, this proposal is a win for parents (financial breathing room), kids (consistent learning and structure), and the economy (stronger workforce participation and future productivity).
P.S. — There's still plenty wrong with our education system that needs fixing. Homeschooled kids consistently outperform public school students.
We should shift toward more skills-based training in high school to prepare teens for real-world jobs.
And I don't know how teacher unions sold the idea that school choice is harmful, but in every other sector, competition drives improvement. Better products, services, and innovation. Pretending monopolies are ideal is just intellectually lazy.

Pau Cubarsí: "I now live with my sister in Barcelona, and I try to distance myself a bit from the football atmosphere when I'm with her."
"I think it's good to separate yourself a little from the game. We watch a movie or series together, and on the weekend I like watching big matches in the Premier League and La Liga."
"Living with my sister gives me greater freedom to relax at home, and also the pleasure of being with family. Because in the end, I hadn't lived with her for all those past years, and we didn't see each other much, and now we're trying to make up for all that time."

@DocDutcher @MercifulMessage Can the all mighty create a rock that he can’t lift? This is a paradox. God do things that are according to his nature. Becoming mortal is not in the nature of the immortal
