There was never a $12 billion hole in the budget. That fairy tale was cooked up to justify reckless spending and political theater. I left the incoming administration with $8 billion in reserves, not a financial apocalypse. Albany election-year bailouts are not a long-term economic strategy. The free money dries up after Election Day, but the bloated “free” programs stay forever. And here’s the part the socialists in City Hall never want to admit: the millionaires and billionaires they love demonizing already pay roughly 40% of NYC’s taxes. Keep demonizing the people creating jobs, investing in this city, and carrying the tax base, and eventually they’ll stop investing here altogether. Facts are stubborn things. Even when some politicians aren’t.

@MikeMasco Here we go again for this weekend or all hype. At this point last week everyone was talking about the storm we just had here in NJ

1PM STORM UPDATE| HIGH SNOW RATIOS HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED.. GOING FORECAST REMAINS UNCHANGED WITH HIGHER END TOTALS Will the arrival of early morning snow we tapped into very high snow ratios (unconfirmed 30:1+) The going forecast remains unchanged with slow advancement of the sleet line before strong FGEN banding starts to form this afternoon. SPC has outlined (and I agree) for this area to achieve intense snowfall later this afternoon. It is not impossible to get over 2" snow rates per hour as the sleet line lifts north tightening the thermal gradient.

7:30 AM STORM UPDATE | STORM IS HERE ❄️ Happy Snow Day! The system is evolving largely as forecast this morning. A strong surge of 700mb moisture transport is underway. Limited lift early on has kept snowfall mostly light to moderate, especially into southern NJ, but coverage is expanding. ❄️ Light snow is now ongoing across the entire region. Snow ratios are VERY high, which has already allowed 1”+ in many spots despite lighter rates. 📊 Model preference: HRRR timing continues to look best versus the other guidance. ⏱️ Key window later today: Pay close attention to the roadblock/pushback after ~4 PM across NYC, Long Island, and Central NJ. That feature could buy us an additional hour+ of intense snowfall, with rates potentially approaching 2”/hr. 🚗 Travel: Roads are passable for now, but visibility will deteriorate over the next few hours. The window to move around is closing fast. @PIX11News

⭐️❄️ 1ST CALL SNOW MAP ❄️⭐️ I’m comfortable enough now to put real numbers on a forecast map — not raw model output, but a forecast built from actual meteorological reasoning. This forecast is based on: • Snow ratios • Lower DGZ placement • Front-end focused snowfall • Dry dew points early • Mixing potential near 800 mb (~6,000 ft) as coastal redevelopment occurs 🩶 ZONE 1: 4–6" Lower Manhattan • Long Island • NJ Coast • Philadelphia The front end of this storm should deliver 4–6" of snow, with locally higher amounts, before a transition to sleet and possibly freezing rain. ⚠️ I do NOT see this turning into “just rain.” Ground temperatures will be in the upper teens to lower 20s — meaning freezing rain is a legitimate concern and should not be ignored. 🟦 ZONE 2: 6–10" Interior North/Central NJ • North Shore LI • Upper Boroughs • Lower Westchester • Lower Fairfield CT Soundings support some sleet here, but also a longer-duration front-end snowfall. This is a challenging transition zone — and there is still a realistic scenario where no meaningful changeover occurs due to strong dynamics. ➡️ Higher-end totals are very much on the table. 🟪 ZONE 3: 10–15" NW NJ • Poconos • Lower Hudson Valley • Central CT This area benefits from very high snow ratios for nearly 90% of the storm before eventually shifting to wetter snow. I am very confident that areas in purple do not switch to sleet or freezing rain. This is the jackpot zone. 📌 SIDE THOUGHTS This is my First Call. Adjustments will be made. Forecasting for more than 7+ million homes is never perfect — especially in a setup with this many microclimates and boundary-layer challenges. But this is the best possible forecast with the data we have right now. More updates coming. Stay tuned ON tv UNTIL 10AM @PIX11News ❄️📺

WARM NOSE — THIS IS WHAT I’M WATCHING CLOSELY *NO need to read this if you're in the NW suburbs* You will be RIPPING snowfall on Sunday w/o issue Look, I hate to still be “that guy,” but after getting burned by a warm nose earlier this season, my guard is up. As the CAMs move into range, I’m watching one thing very closely: 👉 Sleet intrusion cutting into QPF and reducing snowfall totals. So… what is the warm nose? it’s a layer of air above freezing in the mid-levels of the atmosphere — usually around 850 mb (~5,000 ft). When snow falls through it, flakes partially melt… then refreeze as sleet....And that matters. A lot. Right now, the European model is showing +2° to +3°C at 850 mb — that’s above freezing S&E of NYC ⚠️ Translation: That’s a legitimate sleet/mix signal. This is also why I’ve kept totals tapered farther southeast, while keeping NYC and the North Shore of Long Island in snow longer. I still believe the front-end snowfall will be significant — but we can’t pretend this signal isn’t there. Now the NAM is showing a similar idea: • Borderline warming at 850 mb near NYC • Philadelphia trending toward sleet by early afternoon And now with Miller-B coastal development, the storm’s dynamics change along the coastal plain — making temperature profiles even trickier. That’s why I’m being cautious. Not pessimistic. Not hype-driven. Just honest about the risk. Bottom line: ❄️ Strong front-end snow ⚠️ Mid-level warming = sleet risk 📉 Potential impact on totals near the coast Lots of NEW updates ahead on the PIX 11 Morning News .. See you at 4am - 10am @PIX11News

GREAT ILLUSTRATION ON HOW BORDERLINE THIS IS FOR AREA'S AROUND NYC and LONG ISLAND.. My confidence getting a bit stronger on NYC/Long Island holding this cold air dam longer.. I still can't make an argument south of that. RIPPING SNOW by Sunday evening!!!

We’ve seen that but it’s been a minute.. 2021 storm was that but a way different beast of a storm .. the warm air happens 5,000 feet up due to the coastal development that causes a coastal warm front to lift north eroding the cold air. That’s why the surface is so much colder than high up.. it’s an inversion. Doesn’t mean it’s 100% happening .. just means to watch
