A few days ago, a severe hailstorm caused extensive damage to nearly two hundred houses in the areas of Purba Jolaibari, Durganagar, and Lalchand Para in Sabroom. In the aftermath of this disaster, the volunteers of the Red Cross Society, South District Branch, stood firmly beside the affected families. A devastating fire in Jamjuri, Baishnabirchar area left the families of Abul Kashem and his brother Abu Hossain severely affected. Blanket Distribution Programme Organised by Indian Red Cross Society, Tripura State Branch : The Indian Red Cross Society, Tripura State Branch successfully organised a Blanket Distribution Programme on 17 January 2026 in two wards under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), West Tripura District, as part of its continued humanitarian efforts to support the poor, distressed and vulnerable sections of society during the winter season. The programme was graciously inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. (Prof.) Manik Saha, who interacted with the beneficiaries. His presence significantly enhanced the importance and impact of the programme. The event was also honoured by the presence of Shri B. K. Ray (Retd. IPS), Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Tripura State Branch, Shri Chandan Debnath, General Secretary, along with other respected dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, senior Red Cross members and dedicated volunteers. The blanket distribution was conducted at AMC Ward No. 16 (Ram Nagar area) and AMC Ward No. 40 (Bipani Bitan area), focusing particularly on people residing along the banks of the Howrah River in Agartala, who are among the most economically disadvantaged and vulnerable during the winter months. Through this initiative, approximately 700 poor, destitute and helpless individuals were directly benefited. While addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Chief Minister appreciated the consistent humanitarian service rendered by the Indian Red Cross Society, Tripura State Branch. He expressed hope that in the near future, the Red Cross would further strengthen its outreach by extending support to the needy and distressed population living in extremely remote and hilly regions of the State, where assistance is often most urgently required. The programme was smoothly conducted with the active cooperation of Red Cross members and volunteers, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to humanity, compassion, and service to the most vulnerable. In the last evening, during the Book Fair, a visitor suddenly fell ill. Responding without a moment’s delay, our dedicated volunteers immediately provided first aid and timely care. Today, driven by compassion and a deep sense of humanitarian responsibility, the Indian Red Cross Society, South District Branch carried out a relief distribution programme at Doulbari Mag Para, Sabroom. Warm winter clothing, wheelchairs for persons with disabilities, and other essential items were thoughtfully distributed, bringing warmth, dignity, and hope to the lives of the beneficiaries. On 9th December, Hon'ble Mayor Shri Dipak Majumder opened our stall at Swadeshi Mela being organised by the Agartala Municipal Corporation at Swami Vivekananda Maidan. While interacting with the volunteers and officials, he expressed keen interest in the activities of IRCS, TSB and showered his profuse appreciation for the selfless service being rendered by the Society to the people of Tripura. Today, the volunteers of the Indian Red Cross Society, South District Branch, distributed blankets among needy people in remote areas under the Manu Legislative Assembly constituency of South District as part of a humanitarian outreach programme.

Life Members Certificate distribution programme of the Indian Red Cross Society, Khowai District Branch, was held today at Kalyanpur Hospital. The certificates were formally handed over by the Hon’ble Chairman B.K.Ray and the Hon’ble General Secretary Sri Chandan Debnath of the Indian Red Cross Society, Tripura State Branch. On this occasion, a voluntary blood donation camp was also organized. The programme was graced by the presence of the Chairman of Red Cross Khowai District Branch, along with other dignitaries and members of the Red Cross Society.

First Aid Training of 22 participants from TCA started today at Red Cross Bhavan, Indian Red Cross Society, Tripura State Branch. In the inaugural session, the Chairman and the General Secretary delivered speeches on the importance of First Aid, specially to the personnel associated with the game of cricket. Dr. Dilip kumar Das, Dr. Susanta Roy and Dr. Abantika Nath took classes on different topics related to First Aid.
