Oppo and Realme announced that the loan app Fineasy, installed on phones without user consent, is no longer in use. Starting today, phones with the app preinstalled will be removed from sale. An update on January 16 will delete the app, and the companies will stop preinstalling loan apps on their devices. The Office of the Consumer Protection Board is investigating the app’s ownership, compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), and the identity of the data representative.
