Random gratitude post dedicated to @irinson. A week or two ago I joked about wanting to create a comedy podcast, and Irin kindly offered her amazing studio at @AngelList. I caught up with her today and got to see her studio, and damn it is so incredible! Always impressed by how generous AL is to this community, and thank you Irin for representing. Oh and second gratitude comment--thank you @PhilHedayatnia for that chat with you and your colleague Joe just now. We are now actually in the early stages of brainstorming some stuff. There is just too much to make fun of in Silicon Valley these days, someone's gotta do it...

I have a hot take 🙂. I think it’s hurtful. Noticing you’re in a room where you’re newer or differently shaped is accurate perception. I think the discomfort one feels is information, and it tells you where to learn / what to watch / what to build. I’ve found when I pathologized this discomfort as imposter syndrome, it was me trying to make the feeling go away (usually with affirmations) instead of metabolizing it into competence. It presumed I already belonged and didn’t feel it. Sometimes, I truthfully didn’t (yet), and the honest move was to earn it.

what do you all think of imposter syndrome? helpful? hurtful? any favorite tactics managing it?
