Yesterday at the Launch of the NEV T6 Electric Buses by NEV Motors in Abuja. The Minister of State for Industry, Sen. John Owan Enoh, shared the government's goal of achieving a 30% growth in electric mobility, in line with the Nigeria Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP). He also stressed the importance of embracing electric vehicles (EVs) as the future of mobility. At the event, I highlighted the need to produce more affordable electric vehicles for Nigerians. I am elevated about the unveiling of the NEV T6 electric buses, which is a clear sign of the government's readiness to invest in green energy mobility. These buses are 100% electric, meaning zero emissions, which is a big win for both our health and the environment. It’s a reminder of how important it is for us to continue pushing for clean energy solutions and the importance of supporting infrastructure and local content development for electric vehicles in Nigeria. I believe that by creating an enabling environment, we can help our country lead in the global automotive industry. The goal is to foster innovation and make sure that Nigerian-made vehicles, including EVs, are supported so that we can build a strong and sustainable auto sector. I also appreciate the work that NEV Motors, particularly their CEO, Olaosebiken, is doing in advancing the electric vehicle industry in Nigeria. They’ve shown that EVs can work here, and this is just the beginning of a larger movement toward clean transportation in our country. It was inspiring to hear their perspective on how launching the T6 isn’t just about a new vehicle but about positioning Nigeria as a leader in sustainable mobility.
