We did indeed have some of the cutest ostomies in the west after @KLouiseJackson tried to bait @OkoreehM, @FelixDeBieMD, @norinewchan and @isadelaura into good-spirited arguments about when to create an ileostomy. It was a diverting experience indeed! @DukeSurgRes @DukeSurgOnc

My name is Alessandro, I was born and raised in Rome (🇮🇹), and I am applying to #GeneralSurgery for #Match2025 🎉.
My interests include transplant and metabolic surgery. I am passionate about mentorship and education (enough to be concluding a PhD on it). In my spare time, I enjoy bringing my grandma’s culinary expertise to the US while also indulging in my passion for sports.

We are happy to share that today, Rick Slayman, our first patient to ever receive a genetically edited pig kidney transplant, has been discharged from the hospital. He is recovering well and will continue to recuperate at home with his family.
