I support Carrie Prejean Boller 💯! She stopped by my office today with her husband, and I gave her one of the debt badges that I invented to show my appreciation for her bravery with respect to the White House Religious Freedom Commission. I’m inspired by her resolve.

This is the guy the NYT described with a sympathetic “family members killed by Israel” headline. After he attempted a massacre at a synagogue and preschool. Wow, the American press is really bad at this.
Joe Truzman@JoeTruzman

Fox News obtained a photo of Michigan synagogue attacker Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, sent to his sister in Lebanon on the day of the attack, showing him holding what authorities believe is the same rifle used in the assault, @BillMelugin_ reported. The image reportedly included Arabic text referencing martyrdom and revenge, which was redacted. Ghazali, a Lebanon-born U.S. citizen, entered the United States legally in 2011 and was naturalized in 2016. According to the Israel Defense Forces, one of his brothers was a Hezbollah rocket commander killed in a recent Israeli airstrike in Lebanon.

Exactly right.

Imagine the Jews being persecuted throughout the entire Middle East and Europe so an idea was birthed to go to a centralized place in the pursuit of safety that had a religious and historical connection to Judaism. Then Jews legally buy 7% of the land from Arabs for decades who sell it to them at way over market prices, and then the Arabs decide to slaughter Jews in 1920, 1921, and 1929 so the Jews say maybe we should create self defense organizations so we don’t get slaughtered again despite most of us being pretty woke lefties that just want to farm and be safe, so much so that despite killing us and losing our trust, we still want to be good neighbors and split the land with you into two countries where one didn’t exist before. Imagine the local Arabs saying no repeatedly after multiple offers were made for a state and launching a war to attack Jews and verbatim drive them into the sea, and then getting their asses kicked by a bunch of Auschwitz survivors. Then they tried again twice, and lost both times. Then the Israelis offered them a state again, and they said no and launched suicide bombing campaigns while the Israelis kept building their country. And now here we are - they keep trying to destroy, the Israelis keep trying to build, and the axis of resistance is in literal shambles and all of the top guys have fucked their people over for no other reason than militant religiously fueled radicalism. Palestinian leadership has consistently prioritized a struggle over a state and they’ve gotten it. The Israelis will continue to build, and the funny thing is, they just want those around them to do the same. But you’re too ideologically captured to recognize that.

The judge I clerked for, E. Grady Jolly of the Fifth Circuit, a great American, has passed away at 88. He was, as I put it in a Mississippi Law Journal tribute when he took senior status, a consummate gentleman and a judge’s judge.

Never forget they changed the meaning of the word genocide -- much in the same way they changed the meaning of "woman" and "violence" and "racism" and "democracy" -- to be able to spread this preposterous lie. They have ensured these words have no meaning.
Shadi Hamid@shadihamid

What Israel has done in Gaza clearly and easily meets the legal definition of genocide as described in the UN Genocide Convention. I lay out the case in detail here in @washingtonpost: washingtonpost.com/opinions/2025/… Words have meaning. Even if it offends some people, we need to call things as they are. The idea that Israel is somehow immune from judgment is itself an application of a double standard. It is anti-semitic to hold Israel to a different standard than other states. And that's what Israeli is: a state. Sometimes, states do really awful things. And to conflate American Jews with the Israeli state is yet another example of anti-semitism, which the AJC seems to be doing here.

I don't know Professor Kreis, and I am sure that I will read his law review article when it comes out. But there is a certain undermining aspect to send snippy remarks aimed at Professors Wurman and Barnett without backing them up. Then using scholarly process as a shield.

Scholar 1: Publishes an extensive law review article on birthright citizenship. Scholar 2: "Toil[ing] and do[ing] the hard work the right way" which means not jumping the gun. But while the toil is ongoing, and while saying the research is incomplete, sending petty/mean tweets
Anthony Michael Kreis, FRHistS@AnthonyMKreis

What’s poor form is doing demonstrably sloppy, ahistorical work— then flooding the field and expecting to go unchallenged— while others toil and do the hard work the right way. Sorry, but you are the last person in the academy who is qualified to critique me about methodology.
