@Mia_aiMR @PISD_RISE Even at the HS level, I model this by apologizing when I am wrong. My students see that mistakes and failures are part of learning and being resilient.

@PISD_RISE A15: For younger elementary students it’s super important to teach how to offer and accept an apology. I think it’s important to teach the significance of an apology to learn to develop resilience. I determine the opportunity of practice as the situations arise. #pisdRISEchat

Q15: We cannot develop resiliency in others because it can only be developed, practiced, and refined by an individual. How might you create opportunities for students to build resilience in your class? How do you determine what types of opportunities are necessary?

@PISD_RISE A14 Remembering the feedback is not about me but about the task or goal.It is easy to get discouraged when you think someone doesn’t like you instead of how something was done. Changes the entire conversation. #pisdRISEchat

Q14: As educators, we know that actionable feedback is essential! Our mindset for receiving feedback is pivotal in our ability to take action for our own personal growth. Choose one idea from this chapter and explain how it can shift your mindset to make feedback more useful.

A16 My Aha moment is knowing there are two types of conflict. I think using “QTIP” can shift you from affective conflict to cognitive conflict and ultimately be more productive. #pisdRISEchat

A15 My first go to would be to institute acts of helplessness…getting my students to build relationships by helping one another. Reframing is also a great way to teach students to be more resilient. #pisdRISEchat

@adelfa65 @PISD_RISE I totally agree that our personal perspective is what truly matters and finding the “Yes” or positive is vital in a teacher’s survival!

@PISD_RISE A13 We will all encounter negatively unfair and positively fair circumstances. My perspective is what matters. Being able to lean on the positive of any situation is important. I have learned that with every No, there is a Yes I need to find. #pisdRISEchat

Q13: The author notes that life is negatively unfair at times and also positively unfair at times. How can comparing and reflecting on the undeserved good against the undeserved bad play a role in shifting your perspective of inevitable change? #pisdRISEchat

@adelfa65 @PISD_RISE I like the idea of looking at it from the students perspective. Even though I thought my room was organized. It may not be as organized as it needs to be.

@PISD_RISE A12 My plan for next year includes “do a room check”. I am an organized person, but being able to look at it from the students’ perspective will allow me to have a more productive learning environment. #pisdRISEchat

Q12: Harris shared, “Clutter makes you a quitter.” Describe one strategy you plan to implement next year to “quit clutter” and create a learning environment with less stressful distractions. #pisdRISEchat (Note: Reply with A12: and include #pisdRISEchat in your reply.)

A13 Comparing undeserved, good and undeserved bad are the same for me… My faith leads me to know that both are to glorify God, with that in my mind… I am human, but I am resilient! #pisdRISEchat

A12 Crazy thing is… My classroom is very organized and clean, I cannot stand clutter. The one application point that I do not already do is “Make a to-do list”… I’m bad at lists! #pisdRISEchat

@PISD_RISE A7: controlling how you react because of your emotions is so hard. You have to find those triggers and do a lot of self work in order to react in a positive way and not let your emotions get the best of you. #PISDrisechat

@giseldagq @PISD_RISE That’s a trigger for me as well. I started using small group quick discussions where they develop an answer together, however each person has to present a piece of the answer if their group is called.

@PISD_RISE A8: A behavior that triggers my emotional response is when my students do not attempt to try even if it’s an incorrect response. It shows me that aren’t willing to try and make an effort to get help. I understand sometimes it’s difficult to ask for help. #pisdRISEchat

@PISD_RISE A7: it makes sense and will really help me. Growing up I feel like the mindset was to “control” my emotions but I’ve been known to as someone who wears their heart on my sleeve which I perceive as a strength. Managing suits me better than control. #pisdRISEchat

@PISD_RISE A10 #pisdRISEchat I avoid the staff lounge completely! I feel I need to go back and utilize what we read earlier and actually start a journal to vent these items. I also try to make a point to give someone a compliment when I feel this way.

Q10: Complaining is a thinking process and the more we do it, the more likely it may become a habit. How might you use this knowledge to navigate your realms of influence and things you can’t control? #pisdRISEchat (Note: Reply with A10: and include #pisdRISEchat in your reply.)
