Final doomer Isles tweet for a minute. But if he relies on a $6.25M defenseman that was awful to start the season and then tore his shoulder as well as a 35 year old coming off an ACL tear instead of making huge changes I may lose my mind. Via @JoePantorno

Say what you will - but Lou brought this team some of the biggest fishes (of their TDL class) during the TDL, Horvat, Palmieri, JGP. He tried to get a sniper multiple times, most primarily in Panarin. It did not culminate in a cup, but he did well, Datche on the other hand...

Lmfao obviously I want them to win, but I ain’t gonna be mad when they lose as long the games are fun and the core pieces play well. The worst case scenario standings wise this season is like 88 points and the 12th overall pick which is looking quite possible unfortunately.

If the Avs win the cup, I will not be too mad about the Schenn trade because it will be the 32nd pick, and generally speaking, that's not a grand track record, but I will be annoyed if they get knocked out first round.

@MikeBartner @BigAsBeanboozld I would say Mike, I think that the Isles have the prospect pool to weasel their way out of Darche's horrific TDL, Eklund looks great, Aitcheson looks amazing, Eiserman looks decent, not to mention everyone else. With that being said we could have genuinely shot to a top 5 pool.

@BigAsBeanboozld It’s hilarious literally everything I feared besides Schaefer being great came true. Ethical tank/rebuild would’ve been 10x better than what happened and the dumb moves Darche made. Keep telling yourself this team is close like in 2023, 2024 and 2025. 👍👍👍

complete fucking loser mentality its embarrassing mike has been rooting for the islanders to go 0-82 since the season started and sugar coated it as "the ethical tank". build around schaefer loser mentality doesnt attract free agents to come when the fans WANT to lose every year

Not to be that guy, but I am actively rooting for the Isles to lose out at this point. 4.2%/3.2% chance at Reid/Verhoeff vs 1.1% at Carels/Malhotra. Ethical Tank these final 2 games, I beg.

If they miss it’s an incredibly enjoyable season for the first 40-50 game that was ruined by a horrendous deadline. Genuinely an impressively bad in season job. Hopefully there are a lot of hard conversations that happen this offseason regardless.

Missing Palmieri hurt way more than I think many Islanders fans realized. No one really stepped into the role of being that 30-goal 55-60 point winger we need, and it HURT. Not to mention Romanov being out most of the season. Jeez
