Kenya’s journey toward Universal Health Coverage has reached a defining milestone in 2026 with the full operationalization of the Social Health Authority (SHA) under the Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda. For decades, access to equitable healthcare was constrained by a fragmented, salary-based insurance system that left millions—particularly those in the informal sector—without meaningful coverage. Today, under the Taifa Care model, that structural barrier has been effectively addressed, ushering in a more inclusive and responsive national health system. By March 2026, SHA registration had scaled to an impressive 29.7 million citizens, signaling a strong restoration of public trust in the country’s healthcare system. This milestone demonstrates not only expanded coverage but also the successful formalization of health financing across both the formal and informal sectors.

Vetting the so called "border communities"for IDs and Passports is illegal, discriminatory and uncouth practice that has lasted for 6 decades without challenge. There is no basis in law or regulation for the practice. Time has come to discontinue this discriminatory practice.
