Taurai Kandishaya has responded to recent remarks by Rutendo Matinyarare about Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, in which Matinyarare said President Mnangagwa does not deserve a term extension, describing his tenure as mediocre. Kandishaya said, “Rutendo Matinyarare will go the Tinashe Jonasi way. One thing we will never do as ZANU PF is to give strangers access.”

For years I raised concerns with @edmnangagwa's association with the Chivayos & particularly @wicknellchivayo. The Chavayos forms part of Mnangagwa & his sons' criminal enterprise whose main agenda is gold smuggling & siphoning public funds through awarding each other tenders.

I was about to insult you but I thought I shld teach you. Let me give an example of Ad supported streaming. In an economy that is stable companies pay $10-60 per 1000 views of a 30 second Ad slot. They compete for that slot. Assuming 1 million concurrent viewership a day at 15 minute interval, that's ~$1B TAM at a bare minimum. Now, how there are 2 major variables here - companies and viewership. How many companies does Zimbabwe have and how many of them have the ability to compete and pay a premium for advertisement? No need to guess, just look at the print media and how it is struggling. Viewership - currently access to fast & reliable internet that supports streaming is very low. Data is expensive in Zim relative to what pple earn. I pay $30 for Unlimited Internet on my phone and $65 for a 1Gbps home internet. For the same specs in Zim you wld have to pay through your testicle. Now, what does opening up the country mean? It means the govt focuses on the backbone infrastructure that drives innovation. In US, Biden invested $45B in high speed internet infrastructure. I wld expect a serious govt to do the same, invest in power generation etc. Simplify legislation around broadcasting & business in general. One of the companies I consult for has 70 TV channels streaming differnt things from food, housing, courts, news, movies, sports, reality TV etc Imagine the pple that are employed here engineers, reporters, sales, marketing, data junkies etc Think about the production houses, suppliers.. I can go on and on but that is how ecosystems are built and how employment is created. The purpose of a government is not to create jobs but to create an environment where entreprenuership thrives - cutting the red tape, good legislation, backbone infrastructure etc That is what ZANU PF is not good at. So, to help you streaming is not about the phone. It is about the infrastructure, the lucrativeness of your market and the size of the market. That is why if you do Facebook Ads , Zimbabwe is like ~60c/CPM , South Africa $2.50, Germany $10 and USA $20. We are not a strong market. We can be a big market and it starts by opening the country up. VOTE FOR ME😊

Is there ANYTHING stopping a Zimbabwean to do what Speed is doing? They have phones… they have cameras… they have Starlink… what should be opened to create a Speed in Zimbabwe?? U don’t have to look for excuses to justify lack of initiative…

There are hundreds of Zimbabweans, both at home and across the diaspora ,who already have the entrepreneurial skills and innovative capacity you’re talking about, Prof. The challenge has never been a shortage of talent. What holds many back is the environment. When patronage is rewarded more than merit, people with real ideas simply disengage, not because they lack vision, but because they know the system won’t give them a fair opportunity. If we’re serious about building industries and technologies that can compete globally, then the system itself needs a reboot ,one that allows any Zimbabwean with the skills, passion and work ethic to shine, regardless of ideological differences. A system where Zimbabwe comes first.
Prof. Paul Mavima@ProfPMavima

We want Zimbabweans with entrepreneurial skills and innovations that will be sold in Africa, and beyond. Let's have our own industry and technology that is compatible with global players

😎 #KingsMemoir I always tell my sons that back in our days, to chuff a chick you needed extreme charm. Months of patience before she’d even agree to a simple date. When I tell Ama2K (Gen Z) this, they think I’m mad. Today’s kids just slide into an inbox with one word: “Hey ❤️”…and boom, they’re “in love.” No sweat, no effort. They fall for each other’s filtered fortos, then get the shock of their lives when they finally meet in person. Wig off, fake eyelashes gone. 🤣😂 Back then, we had to work for it. Swim across the Mukuvisi River, climb mountains, and write love letters, lyrics stolen from the jams of the day: “I would take the stars out of the sky for you, stop the rain from falling if you asked me to…” After copying, double-checking, and praying for neat handwriting, I’d catch a Salisbury United bus from Sunningdale to the Post Office, buy a stamp, lick it, seal it and scribble “Sealed with a kiss because a lick won’t stick.” Then… the waiting game began.🧐😟 Days of scanning for the postman. Sometimes, no reply 😭. But when it came, woooo! I’d sneak off to a quiet corner of the yard to open it, sweating like a welder. If it was positive, forget sleep! And if you had given her your landline number,ha! Every time the phone rang, you’d sprint like Carl Lewis, only to find it was Auntie wanting to talk to Mama. Nxaaa. And when she did call, it was always the wrong time, sadza & lacto time, or when the whole lounge was glued to Dallas or Hawaii Five-O. 😬🫩😫 If you managed to drag the phone cord into the kitchen and whisper, that was heaven. Meeting points were simple but legendary……QV Pharmacy, then a walk up to Wimpy First Street for the famous breakfast and a Banana Boat ice cream. 💥 Those were real dates. I had weekend hustles at Waterfalls Trotting Club and Borrowdale Racecourse, so I always had enough kites for Karl’s Fashions, Aramis or Kouros cologne. Hair perm fresh from Sue Peters at New Look., how could a girl resist? 😎😎😎Hehehe😛 But even then, it could still take months before the first kiss landed…on the cheek, never mind the lips! 😂😂 Those were the days, when I tell these youngsters kuti takadya nyika rutivi,we ate the country sideways.,they think I’m crazy! Tsitsitsitsitsi 😂😂 #KingsMemoirs | #OldSchoolLove

GROWING UP COLOURED Part One. (This is a refreshed memoir ) (To my American friends, please note the word ‘Coloured’ is not offensive in Zimbabwe or South Africa, it refers to mixed-race people.) These snaps take me right back to my youth, growing up in the tightly knit Coloured suburb of Sunningdale in Harare, back when it was still Salisbury, in the late 70s. It was a familiar sight ,our mums, aunties and older sisters sitting out on the front lawn catching the sun, with rollers in their hair and a cigarette in hand, getting ready for Monday morning. No hairdryers needed when you’ve got that good old African sun. The kitchen would be buzzing too. Sunday was sacred in a Coloured home ,curried chicken and rice if it was an average weekend, or oxtail, butter beans and rice if it was month-end and pockets were a bit deeper. That oxtail had to wait for payday, let’s not pretend 🤣 The women in our community worked incredibly hard to hold the family down. But they also partied just as hard. After a wild Saturday night out at ‘The Scene’ at Arcadia Hall, it was back to curlers, shades and chores by Sunday morning. Most Coloured women held jobs that kept the country ticking. Bank tellers at Founders, Beverley, Barclays, Standard Chartered, Grindlays. Telephone operators at the PTC ,back in the days when you had to dial 0 and speak to an operator to connect your call. Try explaining that to the born-frees 🤣 My Mama Rose, worked at Greatermans Department Store and rose through the ranks to become a Department Supervisor ,in the shoe section. That was her last post before she retired in 1982. So many other women worked at Macy’s, Amato and Sons, Pick’n’Pay, Barbours, Public Services Medical Aid Society ,solid jobs, respectable jobs. It was rare to see a Coloured nurse at Andrew Fleming (now Parirenyatwa) and Princess Margret (now Mbuya Nehanda) Hospitals . Most were white, but the Ward Aides ,affectionately known as “Pinkies” ,were often Coloured women in those unforgettable pink uniforms 😂 A lot of Coloured men worked at Rhodesia Railways ,affectionately known as the Rails ,were employed as shunters, firemen, guards and journeymen. These were the bread-and-butter jobs largely accessible to Coloured men under the Rhodesian system, and while they weren’t high, ranking, they brought in just enough to make month-end feel like Christmas. 😂😅🤣 Though I was just a youngster, you could always tell when the Rails ouens had been paid. They’d show up after their shift in one of those iconic Renault R4 taxis ,Creamline, Rixi, A1 ,and if they were in Bulawayo, or “Skies” as we called it, they’d pull up in a York Taxi. But that wasn’t even the highlight. Some would go all out and hire three taxis ,one for themselves, one for their crates of beer, and another just for their leather jacket 😂😂😂 With brand new LPs in hand, the parties were guaranteed to go off. The Tempest stereos would be rigged up outside, those big speakers with the cushioned tops doubling as chairs, and you just knew the hood was in for a long night. 🕺🏽🕺🏽 Gatecrashers usually caused the most havoc, though some were the ones who made the booze up happen. The guys with a bit of frugality and ambition rolled up in Corsairs, Zephyr Zodiacs, Cortinas, Vauxhalls ,Alpha Romeos or Datsun 1200s, all “suped up” with mag wheels and a couple of aerials ,just for style 😂😂 Meanwhile, some of the guys who worked as “Mud Doctors” ,street lingo for road construction and maintenance workers ,had already blown through their salaries by mid-month. The Rails ouens though, paid on the very last day of the month, were vibing. And no other group of workers stood a chance with the chicks. Goffal girls knew exactly who to hang with when that money came in 😂 Their “bites”, those poor guys they didn’t really fancy but kept around for drinks and laughs, would be quickly forgotten. But it never lasted long. As fast as the money came in, it was gone. To be continued as a repost tweet

Howzit, ouens! 😄 I’ve been a bit quiet lately, and there’s a reason—on Friday, I started feeling a bit giddy and thought, “Ummmm, better brave the 18-hour-plus wait at A&E to get checked out!” Long story short, hanzi my BP was super low, and next thing I knew, I was in another queue for a hospital bed ! But don’t worry, I’m feeling fresh and fabulous now, just chilling with my IV buddy here ,drama chairo!😄😂😂😂🤦🏽‍♂️ The graze here, though? Awful—truly grim. Not that I expected anything better, but seriously, is there an unwritten rule shared by hospitals the world over? That they’ve got to serve food so bad, you’d never want to come back? 😂 Check out this “delightful” plate of “fish, chips, and mushy peas” I got—looks like it’s plotting its revenge . I’m half-convinced they’re trying to scare us into staying healthy just to avoid this menu! Thanks @joecol for coming to the rescue and cooking up a storm at kabin and delivering it piping hot😋 In other news, the amazing team at @TeamFuloZim just whispered to me that the big announcement for the dish our ambassadors will cook for this year’s #AmbassadorsCookOffZW drops at midday today, Sunday, 2 March. I’m pretending I’m totally shocked and surprised 😳—give me that at least, ouens! 😅 Catch you at midday for the big @TeamFuloZim #AmbassadorsCookOffZW reveal. Who’s your pick for an ambassador you’d love to see in the kitchen? Tag them below! 🧑‍🍳
