[Article] #BTS to hold 'THE CITY Seoul' starting March 20… “Reexamining our culture and art” BTS is transforming all of Seoul into a massive cultural experience space. Following the ‘BTS Comeback Live: Arirang’ event at Gwanghwamun Square to commemorate the release of their fifth studio album ‘ARIRANG’, another large-scale project has been announced. According to Big Hit Music on the 6th, ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG SEOUL’ will run from March 20th, the release date of ‘ARIRANG’, through April 12th. Experiential content combining music and media, along with installations blending with the cityscape, will unfold throughout Seoul. During this period, major landmarks representing Seoul, such as Sungnyemun Gate and Seoul Tower (formerly Namsan Tower), will be illuminated with media facades. Adding modern media expressions to cultural heritage sites like Sungnyemun Gate will create symbolic scenes where tradition and the present coexist. This is expected to serve as an opportunity to reintroduce the value of our cultural heritage to the world. From March 20 to 22, a lounge-style program centered on sharing and enjoying BTS's music will be held at Yeouido Hangang Park. Subsequently, throughout April, Seoul's downtown stone walls, staircases, and street trees will be transformed into exhibition spaces. BTS's song lyrics will be interpreted through media installations utilizing light and video. Big Hit Music stated, “We collaborated with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to design the program so that both tourists and citizens visiting Seoul during ‘THE CITY SEOUL’ can experience culture and art in new ways and enjoy BTS's comeback in a multidimensional way,” adding, “We have also prepared partnership events linked to various sectors like F&B and mobility, so please look forward to them.” BTS previously garnered enthusiastic responses with ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE THE CITY - LAS VEGAS’ in Las Vegas, USA, in April 2022, and ‘BTS THE CITY in BUSAN’ in Busan that October. 'The City' is an ‘urban play park’ that offers expanded fan experiences by opening various attractions and events throughout the city. ‘BTS THE CITY ARIRANG’ is planned to launch in Seoul and then sequentially roll out in major cities worldwide.
