Achilles isn't the embodiment of "Greek and Roman male perfection", he's a pain in the ass emo kid who kills the most clearly heroic and sympathetic character in the story because his male lover wasn't as good a fighter as either of them. His name means "bringer of woe to the people" and he brings woe to both Greeks and Trojans.

@Laorothy @jaderants Nobody is taking the original myths away from anyone. A director interpreting a myth differently doesn’t erase older versions, it just adds another one to the pile that already exists after centuries of retellings.

@italktogh0sts @jaderants Imagine replacing any non-white culture’s classical stories with white characters. The uproar would never end. But replace classical western white characters with black and trans characters and you can count on lib white women to defend it.

@1sadmoderate @jaderants I think we should wait and watch the movie and see his vision before condemning it. We might be surprised and the casting might work to what has been written and envisioned. Or it could be utter shit. 😂 but either way I think open mindedness is good.
