Chess game is pitcher vs hitter strength, or ability of P to expose hitter. Analytics always lay groundwork, execution is X factor

Within one week’s time, Shane Bieber and Eury Perez have needed Tommy John surgery and Spencer Strider has serious elbow concerns. Gerrit Cole is out until at least June with elbow issues, too.

@bykevinclark There’s obviously a correlation with velocity and injury. Pitchers offseason throwing programs seem to be focused around maximizing velo, my offseason consisted of intense long toss, weight lifting and just building overall strength.

I'm a huge dumbass so help me out here: is there any possible solution to the baseball problem that every good pitcher is getting Tommy John surgery, or about to get it, or resting to avoid it? Is it just modern pitching and velocity?

Craig Counsell's $8 million-a-year deal with the Chicago Cubs is an industry-shaking deal. In recent years, multiple coaches have pointed out that it's more lucrative financially to take a job with a college program than an MLB team. Counsell's deal could help change that in MLB.
