Among India’s top 5 metro cities, Chennai already has the lowest airport passenger handling capacity at around 35 million passengers per year. Already more than 60% of the land for Parandur airport was acquired by previous government. Unfortunately, the new government under @TVKVijayHQ has cancelled the Parandur airport project without announcing any feasible alternative. Now the state may have to start from scratch, and it could take another 3–5 years just to begin construction of a new airport. This sends a very bad signal for industry, economic growth, investments, and job creation. A disappointing start for the new government especially for Gen Z, who might have to explore employment opportunites outside the state.
