Adam Wharton, who rejected Bayern Munich last summer after Vincent Kompany’s project failed to convince him, now faces Rayo Vallecano tomorrow night in the UEFA Conference League final, one step away from winning a major European trophy, while Bayern Munich, the supposed European giant, will be watching from the sofa after another trophyless European season. #AD (18+)

There are misleading and highly questionable reports circulating from British journalists claiming Liverpool cannot sign Kennet Eichhorn due to legal reasons. The claim is false and has been dismissed inside the industry, agencies and club circles, as people familiar with these structures understand this is not a serious obstacle, but simply a matter of choosing the correct transfer mechanism. There are several ways to structure this deal, which the clubs and the agency are currently working on, and one pathway involves an agreement with Hertha BSC, where Eichhorn remains registered until he becomes eligible to move to England, while Hertha arrange the loan pathway in close collaboration with Liverpool, as the plan has always been for him to go out on loan first before officially arriving at Anfield, similar to the mechanism Tottenham used with Luka Vušković.

@Mobyhaque1 @AnfieldSector They're very lucky that @ITKSpace has committed his services to Bayern. The moment he gets UK press accreditation it's over for them.

My dear loyal audience, I was the first to report weeks ago that Kennet Eichhorn’s dream is to play for England’s most myth-drowned institution, Liverpool Football Club, the first to even link this young jewel to the institution, the first to open the door to a story others are only now beginning to follow. The talented midfielder has gone so far as to instruct his agency, 11WINS, which also has headquarters in Liverpool, to initiate contact with senior board members at the club, and although the agency was initially informed that Liverpool were not actively in the market for this profile, a meeting was eventually granted due to the agency’s importance, existing relationships and the need to preserve strong ties around their players. I can now reveal that the dialogue has developed further, which is why Sky Germany have now reported concrete talks taking place, with my current understanding being that Liverpool and Arne Slot, following their end-of-season review, can in fact see a future for Eichhorn, although no final decision has been made yet, while the player himself would be wholeheartedly prepared to make the move if Liverpool truly materialise their interest, as mentioned weeks ago. There is also a far more strategic scenario being discussed behind the scenes, one in which Liverpool would trigger Eichhorn’s €11.75m release clause, immediately loan him to RB Leipzig, and use the entire construction as a calculated negotiation instrument, potentially creating a pathway to secure Yan Diomandé at a more favourable price while strengthening their long-term relationship with Leipzig.

ℹ️ It’s worth mentioning that Kennet Eichhorn’s agency 11Wins, whose headquarters are based in both Munich and Liverpool, spent months attempting to arrange meetings and establish concrete talks with senior Liverpool figures regarding the 16-year-old central midfielder, internally described by many in Germany as a generational talent with abilities rarely seen before at that age. The feeling around the player’s camp was that Eichhorn would have been highly attracted by the idea of joining England’s crown jewel institution and de facto biggest club, however despite repeated efforts from the agency side through various intermediaries, Liverpool ultimately signalled that they are currently not actively prioritising midfield prospects in this age category. This has led to the current situation where Kennet Eichhorn is now very close to agreeing personal terms with Manchester City, with the internal plan at this stage being an immediate loan to Leverkusen as part of his long-term development pathway.

Deeply disrespectful behaviour from Vincent Kompany, standing at Manchester City’s celebration, holding the Premier League trophy and heavily interacting with their supporters while representing Bayern Munich. Then again, Bayern are, from a journalist’s perspective, at the end of the day, an increasingly embarrassing small club pretending to still sit at the adult table of European football.

@Mobyhaque1 It’s full panic mode inside Säbener Straße, with Bayern fully aware of what they have become, the customer-service queue of European football, where players sit on hold until Liverpool decide whether Anfield has room for them, and only then are Bayern allowed to speak.

@ITKSpace @ITKSpace I am fearing Uli is going to have another meltdown soon. Is it fair to say Bayern is starting to fear that the mythical club that most top youngsters dream of joining is striking fear into bayerns boadroom of another disappointment this summer?

Tomorrow night, the Ligue 1 relegation battle between AS Saint-Étienne and OGC Nice is fully on, and unlike the embarrassing, humiliating, no-longer-top-five-league-worthy German Bundesliga, French football still offers quality, intensity and competitive dignity, which makes this, from a journalist’s perspective, very interesting to witness. #AD (18+)

From a journalist’s perspective, the things Liverpool have done, and continue to do, to Bayern Munich in transfer windows are no longer coincidence, they are a humiliating ritual. Bayern wait beneath the table of Europe’s true giants, begging for scraps of clarity, while Liverpool, the myth-drowned institution from Anfield, decide whether Germany’s loudest empire is even allowed to dream.

@BackseatsmanLFC @AnfieldSector It is no longer fear when the pattern becomes routine. In opera, they say it isn’t over until the fat lady sings, and in this market, Bayern don’t even enter the final act until Liverpool decide whether they want to sing.

@AnfieldSector @ITKSpace I have to speculate that there must be an increasing fear in Bayern that their transfer window is at the whims of what Liverpool decide. First Samuel Martinez, now Eichhorn (as you first reported), and it's well established they'll only get Gordon if we step aside.

[🚨] NEW: Liverpool are certain they can bring Kennet Eichhorn to the club and have already discussed figures with the player. The idea would be to loan him out for one to two years. Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are also in the race. Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart are further behind. Two Bundesliga clubs involved in the race for the player believe he will eventually join Liverpool. [@Plettigoal]

Kennet Eichhorn, considered by many within German football circles as the country’s most gifted midfield talent of his generation, is on the verge of agreeing terms with Manchester City before immediately being loaned to Bayer Leverkusen, another humiliating rejection for Bayern Munich in their own backyard. The reality is genuinely humiliating for the Bundesliga, Germany’s once untouchable invincible side that conquered the league two seasons ago has now effectively transformed itself into a Premier League development institution, polishing elite talents for English football while Bayern Munich helplessly keep losing control of the country’s best players. From an international perspective it becomes harder and harder to view the Bundesliga as a serious league when even its biggest institutions are now officially and contractually transforming themselves into feeder structures for English football.

It’s genuinely concerning that I haven’t even seen proper pictures or videos of Arsenal lifting the trophy. I couldn’t even tell if they had already done it. Meanwhile, I’ve seen countless clips and images of Mohamed Salah, Pep Guardiola and even Bruno Fernandes. From a journalistic perspective, that is a very interesting assessment of public relevance.

Mohamed Salah leaving Liverpool and Tottenham staying in the Premier League are generating more attention than Arsenal lifting the trophy, which is a remarkably revealing reflection of public interest. From a journalistic perspective, it is difficult to recall a title win carrying so little cultural weight, so little emotional gravity and so little wider resonance, but perhaps that is the inevitable consequence of a club whose success still feels more like a temporary disruption than a defining era.

Both Harry Kane and Michael Olise rejected a move to PSG before they signed for FC Bayern. Internally at PSG, it is said that "Many people/players thought PSG would go back to being a small club." after the departure of Mbappé, Messi and Neymar In the case of Kane, he was a priority target for PSG. The French club held talks with his brother and father. However, "At his age, Kane wanted to join a club capable of winning the Champions League immediately. He didn't really believe in the PSG project", says the PSG source - hence he picked Bayern As for Olise, he didn't believe in PSG's project either. "It was up to him to make his decision. He weighed things up and, like others, he chose another project.". Just like Kane, Olise picked Bayern as well [@lequipe]

The Bundesliga is no longer a top five league from a neutral journalistic perspective, but tomorrow night still brings a huge traditional German football game, with 16th-placed VfL Wolfsburg facing 2. Bundesliga third-placed SC Paderborn in the relegation battle. This is what the Bundesliga has become, a fallen league, a desperate first-division club, a hungry second-division challenger, and the kind of chaos that still makes German football interesting despite its irrelevance in European football. #AD (18+)
