Today marks 110th anniversary of Kut al-Amara where the Ottoman army (Kurds, Turks and Arab tribes both Sunni and Shia) defeated Britain and its Indian mercenaries. Unfortunately, that spirit of unity didn’t last much longer long. Defeatist divisive ideologies and petty tribalism/sectarianism took over. The Ottoman Ittihad-i Islam paradigm was replaced with a stupid version of European nationalism that caused our region unspeakable suffering. A century later, as the colonialists and their mercenaries are at our doors again, we have a choice to make: either become even more divided and continue idiotic conflicts for another one hundred years or come together based on a new contract, a new vision and a new order!

Dr. Ludwig’s channel would’ve been where the vast majority of people would’ve been exposed to German folk and marching music for the first time.
The content was almost exclusively if not completely from the pre-Nazi era and it wasn’t even monetised.

Volkstümliches Marschlied „Erika“ gepostet: YouTube löscht Kanal „Dr. Ludwig“ „Dr. Ludwig“ ist ein YouTuber, der deutsche Volks- und Marschlieder gepostet hat. Sein Kanal wurde ohne Vorwarnung gelöscht. Nach Angaben von @trdeutscher (@AfD_Bayern) wurden „ Jahre an Arbeit, Aufbau und kulturellem Einsatz auf einen Schlag vernichtet“. Zunächst unklar ist der Grund der Löschung. Zu vermuten ist, dass YouTube den Kanal gelöscht hat, weil „Dr. Ludwig“ ein Video des Marschliedes „Erika“ gepostet hat. Das Lied „Erika“ (Auf der Heide blüht ein kleines Blümelein) ist ein 1938 von Herms Niel komponiertes deutsches Marschlied, das als typisches Soldatenlied der Deutschen Wehrmacht im Zweiten Weltkrieg gesungen wurde. Im Grunde handelt es sich um ein einfaches Liebeslied mit viel Heimatgefühl. Thomas R. Deutscher zur Löschung von „Dr. Ludwig“: „Hier ging es nicht um schnellen Profit. Der Kanal war laut eigener Aussage nie monetarisiert. Stattdessen wurden über lange Zeit deutsche Lieder, Geschichte und kulturelle Inhalte gesammelt, aufbereitet und zugänglich gemacht. Gerade viele junge Deutsche haben dadurch erstmals wieder Zugang zu einem Stück eigener kultureller Identität gefunden. Während andere nur reden, hat er (Dr. Ludwig) etwas aufgebaut und bewahrt. Dass so etwas einfach verschwindet, ist ein harter Schlag.“ Der YouTuber will sich nach eigenen Angaben juristisch wehren. Doch schon ein anwaltliches Schreiben könnte schnell 1.000 Euro und mehr kosten, ein Gerichtsverfahren eine fünfstellige Summe. SS-Obersturmbannführer (rank at the time) Johannes Mühlenkamp, Kommandeur of SS-Panzer-Regiment 5/5. SS-PzD 'Wiking' in his Panzer V 'Panther' Nº R02, and Grenadiers of the 131.Infanterie-Division at the Battle of Kowel, Ukraine.
(note that some of the 131st Grenadiers are equipped with the brand new StG-44 assault rifle, some of the first units to receive them.)
They were part of the relief force hastily assembled and thrown in to free the city of Kowel in the Pripet Marshes. By April the 10th the Soviet encirclement of the city was broken with the loss of 295 tanks. The SS Pz-PzD 'Wiking' were pulled out of the line to continue refitting.
Throughout March and into April the 'Wiking' Division, 131 I.D., 4 Pz. Div., and 5 Pz. Div. fought to break the encirclement and finally succeeded on the 6th of April.
On the 6th of July,1944, 1st Belorussian Front finally captured Kowel at the start of it's Kowel Offensive (6-11 July 1944).
