What’s common between the performances of @itsRahulBhat in Kennedy, Monika Panwar in Nishaanchi, Zoya Hussain in Mukkabaaz, @SaiyamiKher in Choked, or Tigmanshu Dhulia in Gangs of Wasseypur? They all emerge from the cinematic world of @anuragkashyap72! Performances like these don’t take centre stage by chance. They come alive when a director trusts actors to inhabit rather than indicate — creating space for silences, repetitions, and small shifts to carry meaning. These are not performances that demand attention; they earn it. And in doing so, they end up owning the emotional memory of the film — even in the presence of other strong performances.

Is it possible for an actor to bring alive the anguish and guilt of a wounded father and the manic detachment and cold precision of a killer cop so well simultaneously that only multiple reference performances can describe it? Yes — @itsRahulBhat’s performance in #KENNEDY does exactly that! After watching the film, I had to wade through Denzel Washington’s grief- and anger-ridden intensity in Man on Fire, Michael Chiklis’s desperate moral unravelling in The Shield, and Robert De Niro’s drifting, haunted nonchalance in Taxi Driver to mentally sum it up. And to think this isn’t the first time Rahul Bhat has delivered such a believable, grounded character on screen. Many years back, in #UGLY, he embodied a deeply flawed father whose own morally compromised actions spiral into a nightmare as he desperately tries to find his missing daughter. It’s no coincidence that both these characters were not only conceptualized but also brought to life by none other than @anuragkashyap72, who may not always get the credit for it but has given more actors their first memorable or career-defining roles than any other mainstream Hindi film director during the last two decades.
