@itscigazze It can happen a couple ways. One can be just enough of a warm layer aloft that was poorly modeled. Another can be when the vertical depth of the moisture doesn't extend colder than -10C. From 0C to -10C supercooled liquid water is dominant as opposed to ice, thus freezing drizzle

Freezing drizzle is often considered a "sneaky" winter hazard, but can be cause for big impacts. Safety tips for if you encounter it on the roads: 1) Slow down. 2) Don't use cruise control. 3) Leave distance.
