This past weekend, we put 12 random builders in a lake house… The results shocked us. Here’s what happened. If you don’t know alongside my friends we host @buildnchill. Designed to be a 3 night, 4 day trip in a different city each quarter. This was our second one — we decided on Vancouver (or BC suburbs) as it felt like the right next move. And we were right. The weekend was constructed of: - A series of workshops sharing the sauce (by the guests) - Time outdoors, hiking mountains & trails - Introductions where someone else would intro for you - Cold plunges, board games, and good food But more than anything…we talked a lot. Conversations so deep that they will be cemented in my mind forever. Buildnchill doesn’t make money, in fact quite the opposite. We invest more than any money that comes in (totally free to attend). But that’s the point. This was started by my friends @tuanle & @itsjameszhao as a token to their future selves. On the things they want to NOW so they don’t regret it while sitting on their death beds. Things we would all do if we won the lottery, and money didn’t matter. @tuanle NGL I was nervous about my bet 10K in and your pace was looking good 😓

I ran a marathon without training for it. Three months ago, @itsjameszhao said he'll give me $1,000 if I can finish the marathon I thought to myself, "What? How hard could this be? I see old people finishing marathons all the time." If I put my mind to it, I can do anything. I’m gonna bet on myself. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I didn’t realize that training for a marathon is basically a part-time job. Day of the race Despite not having run a single time, I was still delusional. Me and my 9-pack of flavorless gels were ready to kick this marathon’s ass. The first 5K was easy. At the 10K mark, I felt amazing—“Wow, I just gotta do this three more times? This is f***ing easy.” At 12K, my steps started getting heavier. By 15K, it started to hit. I saw a 60-year-old gentleman running past me. At 17K—"Why is my back hurting so much?" By 20K, everything hurt. I couldn’t feel my legs anymore. James, despite betting against me, was super supportive. He was on the sideline, Saw me limping, and shouted, “LET’S GOOO! I’LL RUN WITH YOU!” I sprinted one last kilometer. One random guy shouted at me, “YOU CAN DO THIS!” I replied, “Nah, actually, I can’t,” I dropped out at 21K. I sat on the ground and realized how delusional I was but I not embarassed I didn't finish it I'm proud. I ran a half-marathon without training
