what I really find funny is that y’all wanted more R&B than Trap productions, and got it, and y’all still not satisfied. so like, what do y’all really want for real?

the art of storytelling through the tracklist is lost. it’s unfortunate because that’s what brings cohesiveness to an album & it forces artists to work harder on their lyrics but also the transitions. a great album flows well sonically & brings you in the artist’s world.

Album Review for Brown by Chris Brown You know, I think it’s been past time for a conversation, but let’s just rip the band-aid off anyway. Chris Brown might be vastly overrated as an artist. His R&B skills have declined with every project he’s put out. His songwriting skills are getting worse and worse. He’s been two decades into his career and he’s been just average at best when it comes to cohesion, song structure and overall quality of his albums. With Brown, one would think he’s gonna be in his “Thriller” bag or ever deliver a real soulful album and unfortunately, you get neither. There are just two decent tracks that have a real R&B sound to it but other than that, it feels like a bunch of old pop tracks that sat on a hard drive and was just thrown on this project. There was no reason to have a dancehall track. There was no reason to include Sexyy Red, Glo & YoungBoy… especially YoungBoy who had the entire concept on his track switched to fit his style. Also, having 27 goddamn tracks is fucking insane when you can skip more than half the damn thing. From the cadence, sound and production, the album just feels like a total waste of time. Chris Brown is very talented, almost too damn talented to not be putting out a different sound. It just feels like Chris just has to unload tons of music he made back in the day, but also, he struggles with staying in a lane. There’s nothing wrong with making pop but it’s never a moment where you’re like “Oh yeah Chris has made a classic.” Unfortunately when it comes to albums, Chris is past his prime. Final Score: Playoff James Harden/10

exactly! & he needs different producers, writers AND TIME! he needs to stick to a 12 to 15 songs album with cohesiveness in the sound & storytelling. it’s so evidently lacking in this album specifically.

at this point “fallin” almost feels like false advertising because it got my hopes up for absolutely NOTHING. how dare he give us a classic lean down album cover to present such a underwhelming project! #BROWN

I had zero expectation of a classic album because no 27-songs album with glorilla, sexy redd and nba youngboy will EVER be a classic. however, it’s not a good body of work & possibly his worst release. #BROWN

#BROWN is underwhelming & inconsistent. the album consists of a bunch of songs thrown together with no cohesiveness or identity. I only love “fallin” & “slow jamz”. A few songs (approx 3-4) on the second half of the album are a nice listen but it won’t get much replays for me.
