✍️ There's a big difference between how we move the ball under Maresca and under Rosenior. Maresca used more of the wingers — the second phase receiver always find the winger, while Rosenior prefers central progression and combinations in attack. Wide progression is a lot safer. If a winger loses the ball, a midfielder can cover and the line also serves as an extra defender. It's easier to box a player at the line and minimise danger. Central progression is whole different story. The most dangerous of them all. One misplaced pass and your defenders will start praying for divine intervention. It's not impossible, Barcelona do this very well. But for that to work, every central midfielder must be a counter-pressing junky and very comfortable in possession of the ball. The reaction time is also extremely important not just any kind of reaction but the trigger must happen in quickest possible time, as soon as the ball is lost. You basically need specific kind of players to do it at a very high level. That's where Rosenior is having issues. He can't find the right balance but he insists on playing through the middle. Imagine this Chelsea squad playing Hansi Flick's highline... that will be prime circus show. For central progression, pressure on the ball isn't a choice but a most. If you don't have the leg, forget it and play safe. There is a reason why we have been outrun by every opponent in the Premier League this season. It's down to the profile of our squad, especially the starters. For me, if we must do that, we have to sacrifice one of Enzo or Palmer in central midfield. Or move Palmer to the wing. I will go with Lavia - Caicedo/Essugo at the base and Enzo/Palmer and Caicedo/Santos in front of them. A lot of combinations here will work but three out of the four box midfielders must be defensive minded players. That is the bare minimum. We don't have time to massage egos now, we need to find the right balance to stabilise the team and become difficult to break down and start winning games again.

@deleshark_ @Blue_Footy Do you understand the difference between coverage and actual defending? Enzo can run and cover space, but he's not solid defensively and in transition. The same goes for Palmer and that's what he's bringing to your attention.

You can't really talk about our attacking counter-press without our two attacking midfielders. It's a game of balance and a team sport. What I meant was that we could only use one of them at a time and balance it with someone with more mobility and better intensity. That's not dragging Enzo. We are too weak in defending transitions, and that's why Maresca tried inverting Gusto or Cucurella into attacking midfield from FB. Not everything should be an agenda for you guys. Be logical and open-minded.

@Blue_Footy You called Enzo Fernandez out for Palmer's flaws. Maybe you should start telling Tuchel how to also use him

Bro, Enzo didn't even say anything about the project or directly to the decision-makers; he just talked about his personal plans. Cucurella's interview last night was basically the same—personal plans. Cucurella's interview with The Athletic is just different. It's a straight bullet to our decision-makers. I would love for Enzo to do that too. I'm not sure anyone in the squad would hate that, even James. They all want a better project. Talking about potential transfer out of the club and sending a message to the owners and SDs to mend their ways are completely two different things or contexts.

@Blue_Footy Why are you even explaining again? This fanbase deserves to suffer for all their lack of vision. Maresca was the BEST SIGNING under this leadership yet people failed to see him for what he was. The directors have their blame, also this fanbase has a blame. We deserve this pain.

When I was saying, "We must not lose Maresca no matter what," because he was massively important to this squad and will be hard to replace, they said, "I'm paid and will back anything." The thing is, we all want change whenever we face small adversity, but what we forget to ask ourselves is if the change will actually be better and if the change won't face its own adversity. I feel some of us deserve what is happening; at least we will learn to be patient and realize that the devil we know is better than the angel we don't know. Football is a process. If you find the right manager, stick to him even when things aren't going well. What Maresca did last season and at the CWC was enough to show his level, but some fans won't have it after a little blip. We have a young squad, and changing the manager is always tough for youngsters who aren't tactically well-prepared. It's easier for an experienced squad that has seen it all, unlike this squad. So, before you shout 'sack the manager,' be ready for what comes after it.

I wonder how Chelsea would try and spin it if Enzo left. We were sold this idea of this young team growing together until their peak years. He's 25, so about to enter his "prime years". Whether you rate him or not, it's a terrible look for an already dead project, it seems.

How about if Palmer had been in top form, we would be in the top 4 this season. The whole team is suffering, and all these pundits and journalists are making it about Palmer. He has also struggled with injuries and poor form, and hasn't contributed much to the team.

🗣️ Joe Cole: "The central defensive position for Chelsea, I think about the players we’ve let out the door, Marc Guehi, Chalobah, Tomori, and the amount of money spent on replacements, the Badiashiles, Fofanas, the Koulibalys of this world, you wonder how that’s gonna play out over the past two years. You wonder how that’s going to play out, because I still think Trevoh Chalobah’s our best central defender, and he’s getting better and better. He understands the club, it was a crime to let him leave. He’s been brilliant today. He’s improving constantly." {Dressing Room Podcast}

@Blue_Footy Yes they spent silly money. But they did attempt to go the route of buying established players and that failed woefully. He should also not be ignorant of the financial state of the club and FFP/PSR margins. These guys should add more context to their statements.

🗣️ Joe Cole: "The new ownership group has come in and they spent a lot of money initially, wasted a lot of money, in my opinion, on not getting the right players in through the door. Over £1billion has been spent on the premise that these lads will develop and become players, and some of them will become great players. But the Chelsea fans are upset because they don’t feel like they’re competing, and they’re not really. You’re not buying players to win games of football, you’re buying players as an asset and I don’t think that ever works." {The Dressing Room podcast}

Antonio Silva for €15m-€20m? 🤔
Florian Plettenberg@Plettigoal

🚨🆕 António #Silva could move in the summer, although SL Benfica want to extend his contract beyond 2027. The market is being explored, and there is also concrete interest from Bundesliga clubs. Estimated price valuation: around €15-25 million. @SkySportDE 🇵🇹

@OnwuzirikeP2 @T0SINB0I @Blue_Footy This summer is the penultimate for this project. If the suits get it wrong again, especially in defensive recruitments, then we're f*cked all over.

Every journalist is having a go at Chelsea at the moment. I don't blame them. I won't say we don't deserve it, but most of them write convenient articles. They only have voices when results are bad.
