Today, we are once again witnessing the reckless abuse of @policenh powers against social media users in Nigeria. What is even more disturbing is how some Nigerian celebrities now appear more eager than politicians and security agencies to throw largely poor young Nigerians into prison under the guise of “cybercrime,” simply because of internet banter or comments they dislike. I have read reports about singers like @Simi and @AdekunleGold allegedly using the police against critics online, and now similar allegations involving @ayrastarr and others keep surfacing. Meanwhile, these same celebrities sit comfortably among international stars abroad demanding respect and award for creative freedom and artistic expression, yet many of those global celebrities would never (and functioning systems) won’t let them weaponize the police, corrupt prosecutors, or compromised court judges against ordinary citizens over free speech or online commentary. This growing culture of criminalizing speech, jokes, criticism, trolling, and online banter is dangerous to democracy and fundamentally incompatible with freedom of expression. The real shame belongs to the irresponsible Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG and sections of the justice system that continue enabling these abuses instead of protecting citizens’ rights. The police must stop acting as private enforcers for the rich, connected and powerful. Nigerians cannot continue to be shipped to prison because influential people are offended online. #RevolutionNow

Would you believe it if I told you that someone was shot with a real grenade and it didn't explode when it hit them? Karla Flores was a 32-year-old Mexican seafood vendor and mother of three from Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. In August 2011, while selling seafood on the street one day, Karla heard a loud bang and was suddenly struck in the face by an object that knocked her down. She felt a burning sensation, touched her face, and saw blood before losing consciousness. A passing motorist rushed her to Culiacán General Hospital. When she woke up, she told doctors she thought a stone or rock had hit her Doctors examined her and initially couldn't identify the large, dark, round object embedded between her upper and lower jawbones, partially obstructing her trachea. An X-ray and CT scan revealed the shocking truth: it was a live, unexploded 40-mm grenade (likely fired from a grenade launcher) that had failed to detonate on impact but was now lodged in her face! That's the image in the second slide. The hospital was immediately placed on high alert. The device could explode at any moment, killing anyone within 10 meters. The facility was partially evacuated, and Karla was isolated while they figured out what to do. Most medical staff were understandably reluctant to operate due to the extreme risk. The head of the hospital eventually called for volunteers. Four brave team members stepped up: two anesthesiologists (Felipe Ortiz and Cristina Soto), a doctor (Lidia Soto), and a nurse (Rodrigo Arredondo). Two explosives experts from the Mexican Army were also brought in to guide the procedure safely. To minimize potential casualties if the grenade detonated, the team moved Karla to an open field away from the hospital. There, using only local anesthesia (no general anesthesia to avoid extra risks), they performed a tracheotomy so she could breathe and carefully extracted the live grenade. The surgery lasted about four hours and the grenade was safely removed and later disposed of by the military. Karla survived the ordeal but required extensive follow-up care. She lost about half her teeth, underwent multiple reconstructive surgeries over the following years, and was left with a large scar on her right cheek and some facial deformity. The first picture is her face after all the surgeries.

@itstundeednut @OfficialAzzaki Did you check who posted the video? And why did he post it and is this a recent event? I will never support such action but what is the Aim of the poster? Is it a narrative? propaganda? This from Atiku camp to push against PO for North vote is that simple to see.

“If I become President, I will use 180 days to tour 36 states in Nigeria so that I can know their problems and I will use the remaining 3.5 years to solve all their problems…..” Peter Obi That's one the funniest political statements I have ever heard. How does he even think??

@NigeriaStories This Fuel CABAL Market cannot be understood ooooo. Since the market is deregulated, Let people bring in their fuel if it is cheaper than local procurement. But we all know nothing imported is better than locally refined based on landing cost.

Rufai Oseni should learn from the woman who anchored the Kigali session with Tinubu. No tantrums, no hostility, no preconceived bias, no unnecessary drama on live TV. If Rufai wants to go far, he must stop being openly partisan and learn from the best global broadcasters.
