Here are 10 YouTube formats YOU could post on your gaming channel to get your first viral video. Give this a retweet to help a fellow gaming creator. "I Played/Did/Practiced for X Days/Hours" Progression and scale, an incredibly valuable ways to not only intrigue viewers but also hold them from the start of the video to the end. People love to live vicariously through creators and see what is possible if you dedicate time to a goal. Leaving the packaging causing viewers to ask the question "How much progress did they make?" And the content itself makes viewers watch until the end to see the result.

Some YouTube thoughts going into 2024: - watch time is still king, make longer videos - some creators get pulled so quickly into "bait" strategies that work for other creators who basically won the lottery. Basic thumbnails and slow edits might work for Sam Sulek, it probably won't work for you - many channels have lower views this year but the same or more revenue, just an observation from many large channels - time spent does not equal results on YouTube, some creators' biggest videos were made in a fraction of the time. People wanted it more, that's it - stop worrying about Average Views Per Viewer or other metrics and focus on things that move the needle - things that move the needle are 1) concepts/video ideas 2) thumbnails 3) pacing and tension - storytelling is only important in that people want to see 1) progression (getting better, faster, stronger, etc) and 2) tension/curiosity - tension oversimplified definition: if you get viewers to wonder any form of "what's going to happen?", they won't leave - as YouTube grows, more money gurus will flood the market like any other business sector. Remember this, never trust advice from anyone who hasn't done it themselves - confirmation bias is a trap on YouTube, always question your own theories as to why something is or isn't working (e.g. "we used green grass and blue sky on this thumbnail and it worked, let's do it on every video!") - YouTube and content creation are the modern day 70s/80s rock band, anybody has cheap and easy access to become the next MrBeast but it still takes years of talent and hard work - creators uploading slightly above average videos more frequently will often beat creators who put more time, energy, and money into less frequent uploads. Unless you're MrBeast - AI thumbnails are a thing, a very real and effective thing. Use them. - one good concept idea on an established YouTube channel can be worth literal millions of dollars and change lives, this is why surrounding yourself with the right team is the most important thing a creator can do - I used to make $44k a year as a teacher, I've created single videos that have made over $100k. Random thought that makes me equally sick and impressed. YouTube is special - give each video your best, post it, learn from it, move on. Do that over years and never skip the learn from it part - the only thing that truly matters on YouTube is "does a large audience want it or not?" Unless you make videos just for yourself, then do whatever you want to do - faceless YouTube channels are way harder than people make it out to be, especially long term. keep your day job. - the creators that 'make it' are the creators that don't do it just for the money, but because the love putting the puzzle pieces together. Nobody will complain about more money but longevity requires passion and obsession for learning on YouTube - stop caring about the 1/10 ranking system. 1s fall off and 10s pick up. Stop basing your mood and attitude off a pointless number that can change anytime, learn from both 1s and 10s and move on to the next - to drastically change your views, you have to drastically change your content style or niche. I did the same thing in one niche as another down to the exact same songs, format, and words--but one niche gave me 1 million views per vid avg vs 100k. Bigger audience >>> - YouTube is about view floors and ceilings, you can be the best creator on all of YouTube but if you're in a small niche then you are hard capped to a certain audience. Find the bigger audiences and give them what they want - the YouTube algorithm isn't perfect but it is VERY good at what it does. if your video is worth watching, YouTube will find the audience. If it's not, improve until it is - YouTube is fun, enjoy it I think that's about it for now, follow if you liked this and might do another. God bless.
