I had to count the zeros twice. That's quite a contract.

@fikocian Everyone is talking about how much the cost of doing space (development, components, testing, launch, etc.) has decreased. We know it, we see it, but indeed I haven't seen any numbers on the topic.

Some space economist should come up with a measure of space inflation. How much did 100kg 550km SSO launch costs gone up, how about busses, components, solar arrays, testing facilities rent...

@fikocian I think now many European space people are wondering why you don't like them 😅

I'm the best connected Czech person in the global 'commercial' space industry. In light of that, questions from my fellow countrymen like "what are you actually up to now" are rather disappointing. Why would you not make use of the resources you have?

@fikocian I can confirm it. Finding your place in the market is the toughest thing, the rest is "normal work".

I'm often thinking about starting a company... I think the most scary part is being confronted by the market reality as opposed to the investor's backseat.

How many launch vehicle company pitchdecks would you think I received this week, in summer of 2025?

@fikocian I don't know how many brands that are non-chinese are still out there. Maybe Samsung, LG (the LG Gram is nice), Microsoft Surface, etc. (although I am almost sure that all of these are manufactured in China).

I'll be soon buying my next windows laptop. Any recommendations? Prefferably non-chinase brand, reasonably durable.

After almost six years of break, I started to work again with polish companies and for the first time, with VCs. It is incredible how people and this country changed, aggressive, ambitious, strategic, hard-working. Fingers crossed.

@miz_entropy E un pas bun și mai puțin radical (și cu o reticență mai mică în adoptare) față de full electric (bine nici tehnologia nu e chiar acolo pentru full electric).

That's an odd situation since Airbus has their own capacities for development and manufacturing of solar panels at Airbus Netherlands (including for series production - they manufacture the Sparkling COTS solar panels there)

Tim Ellis to step down from the CEO role of @relativityspace. He will be replaced by Eric Schmidt (also providing substantial investment). Ellis remains a co-founder and board member.

@fikocian (just a guess) I think it's a consequence of the long development cycles coupled with relatively high costs, while at the same time the size of the market is still small (compared to other markets) so the investment incentive is not there (yet).

I always wondered why the launch market is so subpar as it is 1) no rockets, no satellites 2) lot of satellites, no rockets (2020-2026) 3) too many rockets, too few satellites (2028 onwards) and the same with planes, energy and everything else. This week I learned that has name and is called a bullwhip effect.
