What Christopher Nolan is doing in The Odyssey isn't "inventive". It's just the latest iteration of a tired lazy gimmick we've seen too many times before.
Part of the schtick is that this "inventiveness" only runs in one direction: Black figures from history and literature are never replaced by white ones.
After race-switching white historical characters in productions like Hamilton, Anne Boleyn, The Great to The Tragedy of Macbeth, Mary Queen of Scots, The Hollow Crown, Bridgerton/Queen Charlotte and on and on, the hypocrisy and banality and fakeness lives on in The Odyssey.
Inventiveness, indeed. "Inventiveness" would be if some filmmaker did the absolutely unthinkable: Disrespected a black figure from history or work of literature by making them white.

This is Allen Ginsberg. Allen was many things, among them he was a writer, a poet, a champion to the left and also he was a member and die hard supporter of NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy love association)
He'd read poetry at their conventions. He'd write for their publications. He was really all in with the idea of NAMBLA and did so openly.
Did this stop from the literary left banishing him? No. They somehow managed to separate his writing from him and still celebrate him to this day.

The Massie allegations are serious and the accuser has receipts. There are X messages, text messages, calls, trips and a NDA promising $60k for silence.
He allegedly got her a job in DC working for Victoria Sparks who fired her after the relationship with Massie ended.
She claims he wanted her to engage in behavior she wasn’t comfortable with and he became emotionally abusive when she refused. She also claims that Massie offered her $5k to drop the initial complaint against Sparks for wrongful termination. The $60k offer came later.
My opinion: on its face, had the allegation been emotional abuse only, I don’t think that rises to the level of unfit for office so it wouldn’t go anywhere. However, the payment offers to silence her after she filed complaints is very troubling. Also, the interviewer should have drilled down on what Massie was asking her to do that she was uncomfortable with. As always, allegations alone should not harm the accused, so an examination of the receipts is important.
