@andrewnwq01 Roaring Furnace was nice for bolstering my big removal count, offering a mana sink in attrition games, and making boomerang basics better. i think additional copies of sear are an acceptable alternative

@izzMTG How good was roaring furnace ? I think thats the only card i am pondering on .

i placed 2nd at spotlight richmond with prowess- i liked my approach but made some mistakes in deckbuilding. will do better next time

@Zeroix7 @andrewnwq01 my best recommendation is consulting other strong players you trust. i had the opportunity to discuss sideboarding with @nadcariscool ahead of the event and he helped me better understand the deck’s relationship with the metagame. very thankful to know players like him

@izzMTG @andrewnwq01 Cheers for that. Similar position. Been playing variants of prowess for a few weeks now, needed to move away from Jeskai control as it isnt doing well in the large scale meta and I figure it won't translate well to the upcoming Australian RC this weekend.

@Zeroix7 @andrewnwq01 just vibes. i threw the list together last minute and my prep consisted of going 2-3 at an rcq. i was not well-prepared lol. i’d try a 2-2 split of eddymurk crabs across the maindeck and sideboard, and using the last maindeck slot on the 4th elusive otter.

@real_schwers @Jahikoi i wouldn’t trim any copies of talent or steel-cutter, and i think 16 is the highest i’d go for threat count. if you want additional slickshots, i’d play them in the sideboard. i worry that a card like wilt-leaf liege would harm our consistency too much and risk rotting in hand

@izzMTG @Jahikoi What do you think of trimming a card or two to run 4 swifts, 4 slickshot, 2 Hatcher main? With the rise of orzov what do you think of a wilt-leaf liege or two in the sideboard as a discard outlet that boosts our monks?

top 8’d RC minneapolis with izzet prowess :) lack of experience punished me quite a bit in the matches i lost, but i’ll prep better next time

@Jahikoi @real_schwers drake hatcher generally lines up well into any deck with a high density of nowhere to run and damage-based removal: Rx mice, prowess, pixie variants, oculus. it’s slower than your other threats, but it threatens to snowball the game fast and is hard to answer

@izzMTG @real_schwers how do you feel about drake hatcher + slickshot? my current perception is that drake hatcher is good in the mirror and that's it

@real_schwers thanks! i won’t be available for hartford, but i’d suggest making room for lithomantic barrage and disdainful stroke in the sideboard. the maindeck was strong, but the sideboard was suboptimal. there’s a lot of work to do there
