Here’s the full video from the HUGE ‘old skool’ car cruise on Southend seafront last weekend, which has sparked a lot of debate. Police shut down the unauthorised event and enforced a dispersal order after a minority were reported to be driving in an anti-social manner. However, many of the hundreds of people who had travelled to the event say they still enjoyed the evening. One attendee, David F, said: “I went to it on Saturday. It was my first time on the seafront in 15 years. Me and my mates started going there in around 1992 when I had my first car and into the mid late 90s with my modded Orion. Memories came flooding back!” Chris Patnell, another car enthusiast said similar comments: “I was there Saturday and what a night! I’ve never seen so many cars or people at Southend at the same time! The nostalgia was through the roof! What an awesome event. I can't wait for the next one.” The organisers have promised to arrange another similar event later this year. Video by Daniel Reece.
