Hey, that's a great question. The exact number of flights depends on what ticket price you use. Using the historical average price for a flight between LA and San Francisco, which is about $188, the project's projected $135 billion cost would cover roughly 150 flights per resident of the two cities. To get to the "almost 200 free flights" figure from the video, a flight price of around $140 would need to be used, which is lower than the average but still in a realistic range. Of course, even cheaper fares can be found at times, especially during the low season, which would raise the number of flights you could buy.

Governor Newsom and California’s high speed rail boondoggle are the definition of government incompetence and possibly corruption.   The price tag has gone from $33B to $135B with no completion date in sight.   We could give every single LA & SF resident almost 200 free flights for that much.   That’s why TODAY we’re pulling the plug on federal funding for this train to nowhere. @SaysDana @RetroAgent12 @larryfd @GovWhitmer I personally love Whitmer. This is mostly about keeping federal money (for the military) inside of Michigan. Earlier they wanted to move a base out of Michigan. Mostly thanks to Whitmer (trump just piggybacked off of it) the base stays in Michigan supporting the economy.
