@dutchydraws To me they really does look like smaller hyenas, the difference between spotted and striped hyena is also quite big! When I say Hyena I do not mean only crocutas. Hyenas are the members of the hyenidae family (to me at least).

@jackass_jacks But it technically hasn't been proven yet. I personally side with it being a different family because of how grand the differences are. Though my studies in zoobiology is obviously not at the level of professionals. So this is sorely my opinion

@The_SpaceFerret @FabyCooffe ..... well when I'm looking at a movie with singing lions, I'd love to be able to tell appart the characters and to tell what emotion they're going through 🤣 It was better in Mufasa imo buuuut still "meh" to me: Realistic animals CAN have characterization and be expressive!

@The_SpaceFerret @FabyCooffe Also I hesitated to feature live-action Shenzi but the characterization is so damn bad in this movie, mf just look like a regular, realistic hyena 😭 If only the followed the concepts !

@jackass_jacks @FabyCooffe I didn't care about hyenas until I saw trio in magazines. They're the best characters in TLK! Yeah, maybe they're poor representations, but they're still awesome and made more people aware of hyenas. As much as everyone hates it, the 'live action' movie represented them better,

@The_SpaceFerret @FabyCooffe Don't get me wrong, I love the trio! But I tried to find positive/neutral representations, sadly hyenas have a really bad reputation and are often represented dumb, hunched, ugly and evil (....which the trio are). I think these guys didn't help, but that doesn't mean I hate em!
