the peak days for the trenches were when we used to have to check the pumpfun threads to see what the coin was about. having to read through all the fud about bundles via trenchradar screenshots and people complaining about dex not being paid. communities rallied from those threads, people actually came together to push the narratives outside of the value of the token. $Myro - professional team run through the crypto bear market of 2023, pre trump days (biden days - volume was terrible iykyk) $SC - VC deleted after dev rugged, community used the “unfiltered chat” on pumpfun to create a new cto $Billy - launched and fully ran through threads. no telegram chat was created, people just throught the dog was cute. $Moondeng - viral article posts (one of the first twitter tracker runners) $Fartcoin - OG tek meta, where everything with the “tek” template would run $Michi - fully run through twitter via x raids and pfp changes (first pfp on X idea) $PNUT - twitter tracker play/extremely viral + elon musk interaction (first encounter of elon tweet) $Retardio - first nft project affiliated with solana ecosystem via schizo posting (mitch era) nothing will top the feeling during those typa days. CT was so much friendlier and it wasn’t just about flexing the money you made, but flexing the groups you were actually apart of. making money so you can buy a two thousand dollar image wasn’t stupid, cause it meant finding likeminded individuals.

Every time I see one of these retards trying to day trade with what I assume is less than a $20,000 account I question how close to the top we really are

you're thinking in the vamp mindset if everyone knew that metadata can be changed, once a coin initially starts running there would be zero reason to vamp it because sometime within the next couple hours it will be corrected and if anything that will give a catalyst to "hold for the update" almost like a dex payment obviously this would have to be only allowed for migrated coins and maybe coins that have hit a certain amount of volume so that there aren't thousands of daily requests being spammed, but this truly is a simple solution that would limit vamps dramatically

@jackduval If a coin gets vamped, its gonna take a decent amount of time for Pumpfun to review the form and update the metadata for it, by that time everyone would have rotated already I fw the idea, surely there must be a solution for this

a simple solution imo to help with the extreme vamp culture rn is to allow for meta data to be changed on coins i think being able to submit a form, similar to when you submit a cto form, that has to be manually reviewed and meet strict qualifications would help massively to disincentivize vamps for example, if a coin about a dog runs to millions and then a week later it's revealed that the name of the dog is misspelled or incorrect, you would have the option as a dev to submit an update request and therefor the incentive to vamp goes out the window almost every vamp to an established runner right now revolves around "misspelled name" "incorrect picture" "slightly misspelled ticker" or "this is what the actual name of the trend/meme is called" all this leads to is toxic pvp culture that nobody enjoys and at this point it's clear that serious change needs to be made for this space to move forward

@cr15pe memecoins are already centralized and pumpfun has showed their hand in this matter they have literally deleted coins off their platform for arbitrary personal reasons and given zero official explanation as to why they are permitted to do so

@jackduval rare jack w gets rid of the decentralisation aspect quite significantly but maybe... immutable metadata will prevent toxic griefing imo.

my advice would be to not trade any of this at all unfortunately these platforms encourage vamp culture because they benifit tremendously from it monetarily all of this is designed to make you fomo blast 5 different vamps and trade with 50x the vol that you normal would while they take 2% of every buy/sell you make in the proccess practice self-control and simply do not engage

I lost close to 40 SOL alone on these series of vamps, as I knew it was good. I got caught in the hyper-rotation rather than being able to take a step back, re-assess or just avoid all together. I am new to the trenches, to trading and I'm down approximately 100 SOL in the last week. Any advice on what to do in this situation @jackduval ?

not at all this wouldn't be as simple as making a dex payment, you would actually have to submit a form similar to that of a cto form where you have to verify your socials, wallet, and give a reason for why you want to update and also prove that the update does not deviate from the narrative of the coin itself all of this would be manually reviewed which is very easy to do super simple solution

@jackduval Good idea, but then this leads to devs griefing a coin as well by fucking up the metadata if they arent making any money from the coin they will just vamp themselves

trading off catalysts only is not at all scalable and can easily be patched a perfect example of this is the stock market, which literally moves to the upside or downside off earnings, news, or rate cuts/hikes in a pico second there is zero way to scalp a jerome powell speech or nvda earnings for example because those moves are automated by hedge funds with infinitely more capital than retail traders the same will happen with memecoins with more and more of this becoming automated and it already is with people like bwa who are now 1st txing every tweet catalyst coin with a ridiculous amount of sol and then drilling everyone who buys on top this will only amplify until elon tweets become literally just become one giant candle on the one second chart and only down from there with zero continued upside

i'd say @clukz is one of the best catalyst traders onchain atm retail should strive to trade more like him as opposed to hodling community coins like Pow, or new pairing like Cented this style makes it way easier to control your outcomes and consistently improve as a trader also much lower downside compared to the other 2 styles. only con is you have to be online way more
