Empower your workers, pay them well to live like human beings, even if the business is tanking and you are in a position to, use your own resources like salary to pay your employees their dues, if you do that majority will be grateful and will work tirelessly treating the business as their own and they will also get to understand if things fall apart, they stand to lose as well. We pay Kes 24,000 net to all our 5 farm workers in the village where cost of living is cheaper. This way, you don’t need to be around supervising adults for things to work.

Had a lecturer who dropped out of uni cause she got pregnant, she had 2 sons and spent a decade at home being a SAHM She went back to uni at 30 there about, got her degree, got her masters and then won a scholarship to the US for her doctorate After she graduated in the US she got a teaching job and stayed there for a while, she also got her sons to go there to study and her husband to join her But the husband didn't like living in the US so they both came back and she's now teaching at the University of Nairobi So no it's never too late to do anything as long as you're alive

Anita Among and other Ugandans will understand why Kenyans protect the rule of law and democracy. The same executive power that blocked her competitors from running for election against her as MP has blocked her from running as Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament. When Muhoozi becomes President, that country will be run like a cow shed.

What Julians has submitted is extremely critical. Extremely. Right now: • You partly tell KRA what you earned • You tell KRA what tax you owe If finance Bill 2026 passes, It is KRA that will strictly tell YOU: • What you earned • What tax you owe How? • By pulling data from anywhere • eTIMS, banks, third parties, govt ministries integrations, etc If KRA sends you a tax bill. And it is insane. And you disagree. Who must prove it is wrong? The bill says it is you. But here is the danger. KRA is NOT required to tell you: • Where they got the data from • Or how they arrived at the figures So you are left there. Trying to fight numbers you cannot see. And some of those numbers could be system errors. Now ask yourself, - How do you disprove something you don’t even understand? Are you an angel? What Julians is saying is simple. If KRA wants to tax you using their data, KRA must prove to you and the courts that that data is: • Accurate • Reliable & • Defensible Is that a fair argument? Or should taxpayers just fight ghosts?
Julians Amboko@AmbokoJH

Should the taxpayer still bear the burden of proof in instances where a tax dispute with the Revenue Authority is based in pre-populated & third party data? In my submission before the National Assembly's Finance & Planning Committee on behalf of the Tax Research Centre at @StrathU, I argue that Finance Bill 2026's proposals seeking to anchor Incomes & Expenses Validation in law will be incomplete if they do not include a proposal for the the Revenue Authority being saddled with the burden of proof in such instances. Here's why: · Finance Bill 2026 proposes to amend Sec75 of the Tax Procedures Act to provide that the Revenue Authority may use technology to pre-populate tax returns on behalf of a person required to submit or lodge a tax return · Finance Bill 2026 further proposes that a person required to submit or lodge a tax return may rely on pre-populated return generated by the Revenue Authority to file their return · Finance Bill 2026 proposes to amend Sec112 to provide that the Cabinet Secretary of the National Treasury may make Regulations for the procedure for the submission or lodging of returns based on pre-populated tax returns generated by the Revenue Authority Here's where the problem is: · In all this, Sec56(1) which provides that "In any proceedings, the burden shall be on the taxpayer to prove that a tax decision is incorrect" remains unchanged · Sec56(1) is predicated on the fact that Kenya has been running on a self-assessment based regime & the data upon which tax disputes emerges was held by the taxpayer · With Incomes & Expenses Validation & the onset of a Dual Assessment regime in Kenya, taxpayers are now exposed not just to errors of judgement & data on their part, but also errors of technology & transmission which are out of their control · Can we really still have the burden of proof lying exclusively with the taxpayer in an environment where tax compliance has shifted from a function of record keeping to one where system integration reliability is now a key factor?

New: FIFA has categorically rejected the suspension of FKF president Hussein Mohamed, acting GS/CEO Dennis Gicheru and a NEC Member. FIFA says the measures adopted were not in compliance with the FKF Constitution. It adds the info provided does not demostrate applicable procedural requirements were respected. “FIFA is not in a position to recognise decisions taken by certain members of the National Executive Committee that were not adopted in full compliance with Article 41 and the related procedural provisions of the FKF Constitution.” “Finally, we recall that any actions taken by Members of FKF or by members of FKF bodies in breach of the FKF Constitution, rules and regulations may expose the individuals concerned to consequences, including potential disciplinary measures, as provided for under the FKF Constitution and applicable regulations.”

🚨UPDATE: This is Flavian Zeija Uganda's chief justice while chairing the election of the speaker of the 12th parliament at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. The man is arrogantly primitive imagine presiding over Parliament with such anger issues with the president in attendance The current CJ and former speaker have a lot similarities chairing meetings. So incompetent they all lack discipline and professionalism When you are sworn in from a private ranch, you must behave like one of the cows of the cattle keeper!

Be the SENIOR LAWYER who always guides young lawyers in court where needed. Be willing to help them build their practice confidence. Remind them that they could build and grow as long as they remain committed. Do not react disrespectfully or mock them because they are in difficult situations. Show them better ways to present their works and arguments. The best way to have more hands in litigation is to encourage them to learn and grow. We need more lawyers in litigation. Yes, we do.
