SCENARIO: The world is on fire. 🌍🔥 Fuel is becoming scarce and the cost is approaching $5.00/litre. 💥⛽️ You are a couple and have one or less children and you need the cheapest available 4x4 vehicle with a low-range transfer case that will get you around your remote shags and into the city once a month. 🏕️ A Suzuki Jimny with a 660 cc 3-cylinder petrol engine is what you need as your vehicular survival tool. 🧭 I have many used options available for less than $12,000 CNF Mombasa 🇰🇪 or Dar es Salaam 🇹🇿.

@IanECox @Jasiri_ACM @BarryIpapo The important thing here is not whether a F-35 was shot down, it was the fact that Iran's air defense was able to detect, track, lock onto and shoot and damage a F-35.

Both the RSF and SAF spreading their war into Chad 🇹🇩 will spell absolute disaster for the people of Sudan 🇸🇩. So far the Chadian government has been willing to allow refugees to enter and for humanitarian aid to cross back, if that ends it will be a catastrophe for millions.
Reuters Africa@ReutersAfrica

A cross-border drone attack from Sudan killed 17 people in Chad including mourners attending a funeral service, the Chadian government and local sources said on Thursday, and the country's president vowed to retaliate for any further attacks. reuters.com/world/africa/d…

Hormuz is a weapon that can only be fired once No one should expect a quick resolution to the current crisis, but across the next decade, even the next 3-5 years, the choke point of Hormuz will be massively substituted for The Gulf Arab states are all very rich, with high per capita GDP - the best single measure of relative state capacity - easy access to global markets, especially financial, and have the favorable backing of the US Everyone has known about the Hormuz vulnerability for decades. The Iranians have continually hinted around closing it, but never did. Now they have, but Hormuz is a gun that cannot be reloaded. Deterrents work only up to the point of use. Once used, they have failed. The purpose of a deterrent is to *not* be used Many analysts have made this basic mistake. They think that Iran is now in a position of strength, having exercised its Hormuz option. But the opposite is true. A state is weakest after it has used its deterrent. The cost of that deterrence is now priced in. The worst having been done, the targets of the deterrent are now free to make other arrangements. Before, they were reluctant to do so because of the switching costs. Now, they have no choice; they will not allow themselves to be controlled in this way again Hormuz may never reopen. But the importance of this is a depreciating asset.

Somali and foreign IS-Somalia leadership still remain entrenched in the Puntland mountains. As shown in recently released ISIS media, the footage features Abu Ammar al-Maghribi, a senior figure within ISIS-Somalia, who was present in the Cal Miskaad mountain range in the Bari region. For some time, conflicting reports suggested that much of the group’s leadership had withdrawn from these mountains following clashes with Puntland security forces and U.S. airstrikes. However, credible intelligence indicates that the core leadership of ISIS-Somalia remains in place. In particular, Abdulkadir Mumin, the group’s leader, is believed to still be operating in the area alongside several of his closest associates. It is also assessed that hundreds of foreign fighters remain in the region, determined to continue fighting despite heavy losses. Many have been killed, while others have surrendered or been captured, including some now in the custody of Puntland authorities. Stay tuned and follow @Wargelinn for further updates. #ISIS #Somalia #Africom #Counterterrorism #Security #Hornofafrica #Eastafrica x.com/ayoubaaayoubaa…

Yes, Israel is the pea under the princess’s mattress that has all the Takfiris in the region restive. Of course, if Napoleon hadn’t taken Cairo in 1798 and the Tanzimat had yielded anything other than abject failure, perhaps the British would not have taken Cairo again in 1882 and the Ottomans would not have collapsed in disgrace. If Fidan ever discovered a historical mirror he’d evaporate in shame. Unfortunately he still subscribes to al-Afghani, his protégé Muhammad Abduh, and their scribe Rashid Rida’s notions. Atatürk is rolling in his grave.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan: It should be especially noted that the primary responsible party for this war, which has drawn our region into an unprecedented crisis, is Israel.

@IanECox I once heavily depended on ER JKIA to Perth via DXB for some business. It was reliable and the twice a day flights very helpful. Am glad they are exploring new routes. For exporters of perishables this can be a permanent and profitable flight. Win win for everyone .

A war between Chad and Sudan is precisely what the world needed. Like a hole in the head. By the way, this is not unrelated to the Iran war, as Chad and the factions in Sudan all have or had Gulf sponsors. Shifts in relations among Gulf states may have all sorts of ripple effects.
