These are rare images of Vietnamese "click farms" that fake likes, comments, and shares on social media. These farms operate from homes and hotels. Some use many phones with people operating them, while others use a newer method called "box farming" that uses computers to control many phones. The fake activity looks like it's from real people, so it's hard to detect. One person can control many phones, making it seem like thousands of people are online. It's both lonely and crowded. At the farms, people are in charge of different social media platforms. They post, comment, and watch videos on loop, with TikTok being the most popular platform.

Today I wanted to share something a lot of non-tech people don't understand. This is a click and follower farm. This one in particular is in Vietnam and as ugly as it looks, it has more tech and money invested than some start-ups in Silicon Valley. It only takes one person to control large amounts of phones and do the work of hundreds or even thousands. It’s solitary and crowded at the same time. BTW, Tik Tok is one of the most popular platforms for farms like this one.
