@ChinaFile Thanks to @JackLoganAllen, @TaylahBland, and @RMBarocas for their excellent insights and sharing their own experiences. I hope to see more U.S. students head to China in the near future and sustain an important aspect of the U.S.-China bilateral relationship.

My thoughts: "Before ties sour further and the COVID-induced drop in Western students coming to China becomes permanent, the imperative is on both Chinese and Western governments to support and encourage these crucially important interactions" to get intl education back on track.

Each of us saw our studies (and lives) enriched by the experience we gained here in China. But these experiences are becoming more and more rare, with a difficult geopolitical situation, barriers like flight prices and decreased numbers of bilateral educational opportunities.
