We're saddened to learn of the passing of acclaimed wildlife cameraman and photographer Doug Allan, aged 74. Allan captured breathtaking images of the natural world for series such as Blue Planet and Frozen Planet, often working alongside Sir David Attenborough. He won two BAFTA TV Craft Awards for his work on Wildlife: Polar Bear in 1998 and Human Planet: Arctic in 2011 and was also awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Craft at the BAFTA Scotland Awards in 2017.

Tributes have been paid to ‘true pioneer’ Doug Allan, after the wildlife cameraman died at the age of 74. Allan was a principal cameraman on a number of BBC series including Planet Earth, Frozen Planet and The Blue Planet, and often worked with Sir David Attenborough. He won several Bafta and Emmy awards for his work and in 2024 was made an OBE for services to broadcast media and environmental awareness 👇
